Revelation 21

RHE 1 I saw a new heaven and a new earth. For the first heaven and the first earth was gone: and the sea is now no more. NIV 1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. RHE 2 And I, John, saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. NIV 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. RHE 3 And I heard a great voice from the throne, saying: Behold the tabernacle of God with men: and he will dwell with them. And they shall be his people: and God himself with them shall be their God. NIV 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. RHE 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes: and death shall be no more. Nor mourning, nor crying, nor sorrow shall be any more, for the former things are passed away. NIV 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." RHE 5 And he that sat on the throne, said: Behold, I make all things new. And he said to me: Write. For these words are most faithful and true. NIV 5 He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." RHE 6 And he said to me: It is done. I am Alpha and Omega: the Beginning and the End. To him that thirsteth, I will give of the fountain of the water of life, freely. NIV 6 He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. RHE 7 He that shall overcome shall possess these things. And I will be his God: and he shall be my son. NIV 7 He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. RHE 8 But the fearful and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, they shall have their portion in the pool burning with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. NIV 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars--their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death." RHE 9 And there came one of the seven angels, who had the vials full of the seven last plagues, and spoke with me, saying: Come and I will shew thee the bride, the wife of the Lamb. NIV 9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, "Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb." RHE 10 And he took me up in spirit to a great and high mountain: and he shewed me the holy city Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, NIV 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. RHE 11 Having the glory of God, and the light thereof was like to a precious stone, as to the jasper stone even as crystal. NIV 11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. RHE 12 And it had a wall great and high, having twelve gates, and in the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel. NIV 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. RHE 13 On the east, three gates: and on the north, three gates: and on the south, three gates: and on the west, three gates. NIV 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. RHE 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations: And in them, the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb, NIV 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. RHE 15 And he that spoke with me had a measure of a reed of gold, to measure the city and the gates thereof and the wall. NIV 15 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. RHE 16 And the city lieth in a four-square: and the length thereof is as great as the breadth. And he measured the city with the golden reed for twelve thousand furlongs: and the length and the height and the breadth thereof are equal. NIV 16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long. RHE 17 And he measured the wall thereof an hundred forty-four cubits, the measure of a man, which is of an angel. NIV 17 He measured its wall and it was 144 cubits thick, by man's measurement, which the angel was using. RHE 18 And the building of the wall thereof was of jasper stone: but the city itself pure gold like to clear glass. NIV 18 The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. RHE 19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper: the second, sapphire: the third; a chalcedony: the fourth, an emerald: NIV 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, RHE 20 The fifth, sardonyx: the sixth, sardius: the seventh, chrysolite: the eighth, beryl: the ninth, a topaz: the tenth, a chrysoprasus: the eleventh, a jacinth: the twelfth, an amethyst. NIV 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. RHE 21 And the twelve gates are twelve pearls, one to each: and every several gate was of one several pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, as it were, transparent glass. NIV 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass. RHE 22 And I saw no temple therein. For the Lord God Almighty is the temple thereof, and the Lamb. NIV 22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. RHE 23 And the city hath no need of the sun, nor of the moon, to shine in it. For the glory of God hath enlightened it: and the Lamb is the lamp thereof. NIV 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. RHE 24 And the nations shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth shall bring their glory and honour into it. NIV 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. RHE 25 And the gates thereof shall not be shut by day: for there shall be no night there. NIV 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. RHE 26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. NIV 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. RHE 27 There shall not enter into it any thing defiled or that worketh abomination or maketh a lie: but they that are written in the book of life of the Lamb. NIV 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.
