Romans 10

HNV 1 Brothers, my heart's desire and my prayer to God is for Yisra'el, that they may be saved. NIV 1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. HNV 2 For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. NIV 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. HNV 3 For being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they didn't subject themselves to the righteousness of God. NIV 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. HNV 4 For Messiah is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. NIV 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. HNV 5 For Moshe writes about the righteousness of the law, "The one who does them will live by them." NIV 5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." HNV 6 But the righteousness which is of faith says this, "Don't say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' (that is, to bring Messiah down); NIV 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' " (that is, to bring Christ down) HNV 7 or, 'Who will descend into the abyss?' (that is, to bring Messiah up from the dead.)" NIV 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?' " (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). HNV 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth, and in your heart;" that is, the word of faith, which we preach: NIV 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: HNV 9 that if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Yeshua, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. NIV 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. HNV 10 For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. NIV 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. HNV 11 For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes in him will not be put to shame." NIV 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." HNV 12 For there is no distinction between Yehudi and Yevanit; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him. NIV 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, HNV 13 For, "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved." NIV 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." HNV 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher? NIV 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? HNV 15 And how will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Good News of shalom, Who bring glad tidings of good things!" NIV 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" HNV 16 But they didn't all listen to the glad news. For Yesha`yahu says, "Lord, who has believed our report?" NIV 16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message?" HNV 17 So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. NIV 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. HNV 18 But I say, didn't they hear? Yes, most assuredly, "Their sound went out into all the eretz, Their words to the ends of the world." NIV 18 But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: "Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world." HNV 19 But I ask, didn't Yisra'el know? First Moshe says, "I will provoke you to jealousy with that which is no nation, With a nation void of understanding I will make you angry." NIV 19 Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says, "I will make you envious by those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding." HNV 20 Yesha`yahu is very bold, and says, "I was found by those who didn't seek me. I was revealed to those who didn't ask for me." NIV 20 And Isaiah boldly says, "I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me." HNV 21 But as to Yisra'el he says, "All day long I stretched out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people. NIV 21 But concerning Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people."
