Romans 12

DBY 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the compassions of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, [which is] your intelligent service. NIV 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. DBY 2 And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of [your] mind, that ye may prove what [is] the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. NIV 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. DBY 3 For I say, through the grace which has been given to me, to every one that is among you, not to have high thoughts above what he should think; but to think so as to be wise, as God has dealt to each a measure of faith. NIV 3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. DBY 4 For, as in one body we have many members, but all the members have not the same office; NIV 4 Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, DBY 5 thus we, [being] many, are one body in Christ, and each one members one of the other. NIV 5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. DBY 6 But having different gifts, according to the grace which has been given to us, whether [it be] prophecy, [let us prophesy] according to the proportion of faith; NIV 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. DBY 7 or service, [let us occupy ourselves] in service; or he that teaches, in teaching; NIV 7 If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; DBY 8 or he that exhorts, in exhortation; he that gives, in simplicity; he that leads, with diligence; he that shews mercy, with cheerfulness. NIV 8 if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. DBY 9 Let love be unfeigned; abhorring evil; cleaving to good: NIV 9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. DBY 10 as to brotherly love, kindly affectioned towards one another: as to honour, each taking the lead in paying it to the other: NIV 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. DBY 11 as to diligent zealousness, not slothful; in spirit fervent; serving the Lord. NIV 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. DBY 12 As regards hope, rejoicing: as regards tribulation, enduring: as regards prayer, persevering: NIV 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. DBY 13 distributing to the necessities of the saints; given to hospitality. NIV 13 Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. DBY 14 Bless them that persecute you; bless, and curse not. NIV 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. DBY 15 Rejoice with those that rejoice, weep with those that weep. NIV 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. DBY 16 Have the same respect one for another, not minding high things, but going along with the lowly: be not wise in your own eyes: NIV 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. DBY 17 recompensing to no one evil for evil: providing things honest before all men: NIV 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. DBY 18 if possible, as far as depends on you, living in peace with all men; NIV 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. DBY 19 not avenging yourselves, beloved, but give place to wrath; for it is written, Vengeance [belongs] to me, *I* will recompense, saith the Lord. NIV 19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. DBY 20 If therefore thine enemy should hunger, feed him; if he should thirst, give him drink; for, so doing, thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head. NIV 20 On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." DBY 21 Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. NIV 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
