Romans 12:9-21

CEB 9 Love should be shown without pretending. Hate evil, and hold on to what is good. NRS 9 Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; CEB 10 Love each other like the members of your family. Be the best at showing honor to each other. NRS 10 love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. CEB 11 Don't hesitate to be enthusiastic—be on fire in the Spirit as you serve the Lord! NRS 11 Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. CEB 12 Be happy in your hope, stand your ground when you're in trouble, and devote yourselves to prayer. NRS 12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. CEB 13 Contribute to the needs of God's people, and welcome strangers into your home. NRS 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers. CEB 14 Bless people who harass you—bless and don't curse them. NRS 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. CEB 15 Be happy with those who are happy, and cry with those who are crying. NRS 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. CEB 16 Consider everyone as equal, and don't think that you're better than anyone else. Instead, associate with people who have no status. Don't think that you're so smart. NRS 16 Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. CEB 17 Don't pay back anyone for their evil actions with evil actions, but show respect for what everyone else believes is good. NRS 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. CEB 18 If possible, to the best of your ability, live at peace with all people. NRS 18 If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. CEB 19 Don't try to get revenge for yourselves, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath. It is written, Revenge belongs to me; I will pay it back, says the Lord. NRS 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." CEB 20 Instead, If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink. By doing this, you will pile burning coals of fire upon his head. NRS 20 No, "if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads." CEB 21 Don't be defeated by evil, but defeat evil with good. NRS 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
