Romans 14:1-12

CEB 1 Welcome the person who is weak in faith—but not in order to argue about differences of opinion. NRS 1 Welcome those who are weak in faith, but not for the purpose of quarreling over opinions. CEB 2 One person believes in eating everything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. NRS 2 Some believe in eating anything, while the weak eat only vegetables. CEB 3 Those who eat must not look down on the ones who don't, and the ones who don't eat must not judge the ones who do, because God has accepted them. NRS 3 Those who eat must not despise those who abstain, and those who abstain must not pass judgment on those who eat; for God has welcomed them. CEB 4 Who are you to judge someone else's servants? They stand or fall before their own Lord (and they will stand, because the Lord has the power to make them stand). NRS 4 Who are you to pass judgment on servants of another? It is before their own lord that they stand or fall. And they will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make them stand. CEB 5 One person considers some days to be more sacred than others, while another person considers all days to be the same. Each person must have their own convictions. NRS 5 Some judge one day to be better than another, while others judge all days to be alike. Let all be fully convinced in their own minds. CEB 6 Someone who thinks that a day is sacred, thinks that way for the Lord. Those who eat, eat for the Lord, because they thank God. And those who don't eat, don't eat for the Lord, and they thank the Lord too. NRS 6 Those who observe the day, observe it in honor of the Lord. Also those who eat, eat in honor of the Lord, since they give thanks to God; while those who abstain, abstain in honor of the Lord and give thanks to God. CEB 7 We don't live for ourselves and we don't die for ourselves. NRS 7 We do not live to ourselves, and we do not die to ourselves. CEB 8 If we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we belong to God. NRS 8 If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. CEB 9 This is why Christ died and lived: so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living. NRS 9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living. CEB 10 But why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you look down on your brother or sister? We all will stand in front of the judgment seat of God. NRS 10 Why do you pass judgment on your brother or sister? Or you, why do you despise your brother or sister? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. CEB 11 Because it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to me, and every tongue will give praise to God. NRS 11 For it is written, "As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall give praise to God." CEB 12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. NRS 12 So then, each of us will be accountable to God.
