Romans 3:21-31

ESV 21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it-- NIV 21 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. ESV 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: NIV 22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, ESV 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, NIV 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, ESV 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, NIV 24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. ESV 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. NIV 25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished-- ESV 26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. NIV 26 he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. ESV 27 Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. NIV 27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith. ESV 28 For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law. NIV 28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. ESV 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, NIV 29 Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, ESV 30 since God is one--who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. NIV 30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. ESV 31 Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law. NIV 31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.
