Romans 3:9-20

BBE 9 What then? are we worse off than they? In no way: because we have before made it clear that Jews as well as Greeks are all under the power of sin; NIV 9 What shall we conclude then? Are we any better ? Not at all! We have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under sin. BBE 10 As it is said in the holy Writings, There is not one who does righteousness; NIV 10 As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; BBE 11 Not one who has the knowledge of what is right, not one who is a searcher after God; NIV 11 there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. BBE 12 They have all gone out of the way, there is no profit in any of them; there is not one who does good, not so much as one: NIV 12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." BBE 13 Their throat is like an open place of death; with their tongues they have said what is not true: the poison of snakes is under their lips: NIV 13 "Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit." "The poison of vipers is on their lips." BBE 14 Whose mouth is full of curses and bitter words: NIV 14 "Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness." BBE 15 Their feet are quick in running after blood; NIV 15 "Their feet are swift to shed blood; BBE 16 Destruction and trouble are in their ways; NIV 16 ruin and misery mark their ways, BBE 17 And of the way of peace they have no knowledge: NIV 17 and the way of peace they do not know." BBE 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes. NIV 18 "There is no fear of God before their eyes." BBE 19 Now, we have knowledge that what the law says is for those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and all men may be judged by God: NIV 19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. BBE 20 Because by the works of the law no man is able to have righteousness in his eyes, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin. NIV 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.
