1 Salmo 40<br />Para el director del coro: salmo de David.<br />Con paciencia esperé que el Señor<br /> me ayudara,<br />y él se fijó en mí y oyó mi clamor.

2 Me sacó del foso de desesperación,<br />del lodo y del fango.<br />Puso mis pies sobre suelo firme<br />y a medida que yo caminaba, me estabilizó.

3 Me dio un canto nuevo para entonar,<br />un himno de alabanza a nuestro Dios.<br />Muchos verán lo que él hizo y quedarán asombrados;<br />pondrán su confianza en el Señor<br />.

4 Ah, qué alegría para los que confían en el Señor<br />,<br />los que no confían en los orgullosos<br />ni en aquellos que rinden culto a ídolos.

5 Oh Señor<br /> mi Dios, has realizado muchas maravillas a nuestro favor.<br />Son tantos tus planes para nosotros que resulta imposible enumerarlos.<br />No hay nadie como tú.<br />Si tratara de mencionar todas tus obras maravillosas,<br />no terminaría jamás.

6 No te deleitas en las ofrendas ni en los sacrificios.<br />Ahora que me hiciste escuchar, finalmente comprendo:<br />tú no exiges ofrendas quemadas ni ofrendas por el pecado.

7 Entonces dije: «Aquí estoy.<br />Como está escrito acerca de mí en las Escrituras:

8 me complace hacer tu voluntad, Dios mío,<br />pues tus enseñanzas están escritas en mi corazón».

9 A todo tu pueblo le conté de tu justicia.<br />No tuve temor de hablar con libertad,<br />como tú bien lo sabes, oh Señor<br />.

10 No oculté en mi corazón las buenas noticias acerca de tu justicia;<br />hablé de tu fidelidad y de tu poder salvador.<br />A todos en la gran asamblea les conté<br />de tu fidelidad y tu amor inagotable.

11 Señor<br />, no me prives de tus tiernas misericordias;<br />que tu amor inagotable y tu fidelidad siempre me protejan.

12 Pues me rodean las dificultades,<br />¡son demasiadas para contar!<br />Es tal la acumulación de mis pecados<br />que no puedo ver una salida.<br />Suman más que los cabellos de mi cabeza<br />y he perdido toda mi valentía.

13 Por favor, Señor<br />, ¡rescátame!<br />Ven pronto, Señor<br />, y ayúdame.

14 Que los que tratan de destruirme<br />sean humillados y avergonzados;<br />que los que se deleitan en mis dificultades<br />retrocedan con deshonra;

15 que su vergüenza los horrorice,<br />porque dijeron: «¡Ajá! ¡Ahora sí lo atrapamos!».

16 Pero que todos los que te buscan<br />se alegren y se gocen en ti;<br />que los que aman tu salvación<br />griten una y otra vez: «¡El Señor<br /> es grande!».

17 En cuanto a mí, pobre y necesitado,<br />que el Señor me tenga en sus pensamientos.<br />Tú eres mi ayudador y mi salvador;<br />oh Dios mío, no te demores.

1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.

2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORDand put their trust in him.

4 Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.

5 Many, LORD my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.

6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire— but my ears you have opened — burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.

7 Then I said, “Here I am, I have come— it is written about me in the scroll.

8 I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.”

9 I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, LORD, as you know.

10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly.

11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, LORD; may your love and faithfulness always protect me.

12 For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me.

13 Be pleased to save me, LORD; come quickly, LORD, to help me.

14 May all who want to take my life be put to shame and confusion; may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.

15 May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!” be appalled at their own shame.

16 But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, “The LORD is great!”

17 But as for me, I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; you are my God, do not delay.
