1 Salmo de Asaf. Ciertamente bueno <I>es</I> Dios a Israel, a los limpios de corazón.

Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.
2 En cuanto a mí, casi se apartaron mis pies; por poco resbalaron mis pasos.

But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold.
3 Porque me enojé contra los locos, viendo la paz de los impíos.

For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Porque no hay ataduras para su muerte; antes su fortaleza <I>está</I> entera.

They have no struggles; their bodies are healthy and strong.
5 No pasan trabajos como <I>otros</I> seres humanos; ni son azotados con los hombres.

They are free from common human burdens; they are not plagued by human ills.
6 Por tanto, la soberbia los corona; se cubren de vestido de violencia.

Therefore pride is their necklace; they clothe themselves with violence.
7 Sus ojos están salidos de gruesos; logran con creces los antojos del corazón.

From their callous hearts comes iniquity ; their evil imaginations have no limits.
8 Se soltaron, y hablan con maldad de <I>hacer</I> violencia; hablan con altanería.

They scoff, and speak with malice; with arrogance they threaten oppression.
9 Ponen contra el cielo su boca, y su lengua pasea la tierra.

Their mouths lay claim to heaven, and their tongues take possession of the earth.
10 Por eso su pueblo volverá aquí, y aguas de lleno le son exprimidas.

Therefore their people turn to them and drink up waters in abundance.
11 Y dirán: ¿Cómo sabe Dios? ¿Y hay conocimiento en lo <I>más</I> alto?

They say, “How would God know? Does the Most High know anything?”
12 He aquí estos impíos, sin ser turbados del mundo, alcanzaron riquezas.

This is what the wicked are like— always free of care, they go on amassing wealth.
13 Verdaderamente en vano he limpiado mi corazón, y lavado mis manos en limpieza;

Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure and have washed my hands in innocence.
14 y he sido azotado todo el día, y castigado por las mañanas:

All day long I have been afflicted, and every morning brings new punishments.
15 Si dijera yo, hablaré como ellos; he aquí habría negado la generación de tus hijos:

If I had spoken out like that, I would have betrayed your children.
16 Pensaré pues para entender esto; es a mis ojos <I>duro</I> trabajo.

When I tried to understand all this, it troubled me deeply
17 Hasta que venga al santuario de Dios, <I>entonces</I> entenderé la postrimería de ellos.

till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny.
18 Ciertamente los has puesto en deslizaderos; en asolamientos los harás caer.

Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin.
19 ¡Cómo han sido asolados! ¡Cuán en un punto! Se acabaron, fenecieron con turbaciones.

How suddenly are they destroyed, completely swept away by terrors!
20 Como sueño del que despierta, <I>así</I> , Señor, cuando despertares, menospreciarás sus apariencias.

They are like a dream when one awakes; when you arise, Lord, you will despise them as fantasies.
21 Se desazonó a la verdad mi corazón, y en mis riñones sentía punzadas.

When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered,
22 Mas yo <I>era</I> ignorante, y no entendía; era <I>como una</I> bestia acerca de ti.

I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you.
23 Con todo, yo siempre <I>estuve</I> contigo; trabaste de mi mano derecha.

Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.
24 Me has guiado según tu consejo, y después me recibirás con gloria.

You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.
25 ¿A quién tengo yo en los cielos <I>sino a ti</I> ? Y fuera de ti nada deseo en la tierra.

Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
26 Mi carne y mi corazón desfallecen; la fuerza de mi corazón <I>es</I> que mi porción <I>es</I> Dios para siempre.

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
27 Porque he aquí, los que se alejan de ti perecerán; <I>tú</I> cortas a todo aquel que fornica de ti.

Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you.
28 Y <I>en cuanto a</I> mí, el acercarme a Dios me <I>es</I> el bien; he puesto en el Señor DIOS mi esperanza, para contar todas tus obras.

But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.
