Song of Solomon 2

GNT 1 I am only a wild flower in Sharon, a lily in a mountain valley. NIV 1 I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys. GNT 2 Like a lily among thorns is my darling among women. NIV 2 Like a lily among thorns is my darling among the maidens. GNT 3 Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my dearest compared to other men. I love to sit in its shadow, and its fruit is sweet to my taste. NIV 3 Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest is my lover among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste. GNT 4 He brought me to his banquet hall and raised the banner of love over me. NIV 4 He has taken me to the banquet hall, and his banner over me is love. GNT 5 Restore my strength with raisins and refresh me with apples! I am weak from passion. NIV 5 Strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am faint with love. GNT 6 His left hand is under my head, and his right hand caresses me. NIV 6 His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me. GNT 7 Promise me, women of Jerusalem; swear by the swift deer and the gazelles that you will not interrupt our love. NIV 7 Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires. GNT 8 I hear my lover's voice. He comes running over the mountains, racing across the hills to me. NIV 8 Listen! My lover! Look! Here he comes, leaping across the mountains, bounding over the hills. GNT 9 My lover is like a gazelle, like a young stag. There he stands beside the wall. He looks in through the window and glances through the lattice. NIV 9 My lover is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look! There he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice. GNT 10 My lover speaks to me. Come then, my love; my darling, come with me. NIV 10 My lover spoke and said to me, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me. GNT 11 The winter is over; the rains have stopped; NIV 11 See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. GNT 12 in the countryside the flowers are in bloom. This is the time for singing; the song of doves is heard in the fields. NIV 12 Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. GNT 13 Figs are beginning to ripen; the air is fragrant with blossoming vines. Come then, my love; my darling, come with me. NIV 13 The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me." GNT 14 You are like a dove that hides in the crevice of a rock. Let me see your lovely face and hear your enchanting voice. NIV 14 My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely. GNT 15 Catch the foxes, the little foxes, before they ruin our vineyard in bloom. NIV 15 Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom. GNT 16 My lover is mine, and I am his. He feeds his flock among the lilies NIV 16 My lover is mine and I am his; he browses among the lilies. GNT 17 until the morning breezes blow and the darkness disappears. Return, my darling, like a gazelle, like a stag on the mountains of Bether. NIV 17 Until the day breaks and the shadows flee, turn, my lover, and be like a gazelle or like a young stag on the rugged hills.
