1 And I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a man, and in his hand a measuring line.
1 Then I looked up, and there before me was a man with a measuring line in his hand.
2 And I said to him, Whither goest thou? And he said to me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth of it, and what is the length of it.
2 I asked, “Where are you going?” He answered me, “To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is.”
3 And, behold, the angel that spoke with me stood , and another angel went forth to meet him,
3 While the angel who was speaking to me was leaving, another angel came to meet him
4 and spoke to him, saying, Run and speak to that young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be fully inhabited by reason of the abundance of men and cattle in the midst of her.
4 and said to him: “Run, tell that young man, ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it.
5 And I will be to her, saith the Lord, a wall of fire round about, and I will be for a glory in the midst of her.
5 And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the LORD, ‘and I will be its glory within.’
6 Ho, ho, flee from the land of the north, saith the Lord: for I will gather you from the four winds of heaven, saith the Lord,
6 “Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the LORD, “for I have scattered you to the four winds of heaven,” declares the LORD.
7 to Sion: deliver yourselves, ye that dwell the daughter of Babylon.
7 “Come, Zion! Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon!”
8 For thus saith the Lord Almighty; After the glory has he sent me to the nations that spoiled you: for he that touches you is as one that touches the apple of his eye.
8 For this is what the LORD Almighty says: “After the Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye—
9 For, behold, I bring my hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to them that serve them: and ye shall know that the Lord Almighty has sent me.
9 I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them. Then you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me.
10 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Sion: for, behold, I come, and will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.
10 “Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,” declares the LORD.
11 And many nations shall flee for refuge to the Lord in that day, and they shall be for a people to him, and they shall dwell in the midst of thee: and thou shalt know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to thee.
11 “Many nations will be joined with the LORD in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you.
12 And the Lord shall inherit Juda his portion in the holy , and he will yet choose Jerusalem.
12 The LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem.
13 Let all flesh fear before the Lord: for he has risen up from his holy clouds.
13 Be still before the LORD, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.”
