Psalm 80

CEB 1 Shepherd of Israel, listen! You, the one who leads Joseph as if he were a sheep. You, who are enthroned upon the winged heavenly creatures. Show yourself NRS 1 Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock! You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth CEB 2 before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh! Wake up your power! Come to save us! NRS 2 before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh. Stir up your might, and come to save us! CEB 3 Restore us, God! Make your face shine so that we can be saved! NRS 3 Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved. CEB 4 LORD God of heavenly forces, how long will you fume against your people's prayer? NRS 4 O Lord God of hosts, how long will you be angry with your people's prayers? CEB 5 You've fed them bread made of tears; you've given them tears to drink three times over! NRS 5 You have fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in full measure. CEB 6 You've put us at odds with our neighbors; our enemies make fun of us. NRS 6 You make us the scorn of our neighbors; our enemies laugh among themselves. CEB 7 Restore us, God of heavenly forces! Make your face shine so that we can be saved! NRS 7 Restore us, O God of hosts; let your face shine, that we may be saved. CEB 8 You brought a vine out of Egypt. You drove out the nations and planted it. NRS 8 You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it. CEB 9 You cleared the ground for it; then it planted its roots deep, filling the land. NRS 9 You cleared the ground for it; it took deep root and filled the land. CEB 10 The mountains were covered by its shade; the mighty cedars were covered by its branches. NRS 10 The mountains were covered with its shade, the mighty cedars with its branches; CEB 11 It sent its branches all the way to the sea; its shoots went all the way to the Euphrates River. NRS 11 it sent out its branches to the sea, and its shoots to the River. CEB 12 So why have you now torn down its walls so that all who come along can pluck its fruit, NRS 12 Why then have you broken down its walls, so that all who pass along the way pluck its fruit? CEB 13 so that any boar from the forest can tear it up, so that the bugs can feed on it? NRS 13 The boar from the forest ravages it, and all that move in the field feed on it. CEB 14 Please come back, God of heavenly forces! Look down from heaven and perceive it! Attend to this vine, NRS 14 Turn again, O God of hosts; look down from heaven, and see; have regard for this vine, CEB 15 this root that you planted with your strong hand, this son whom you secured as your very own. NRS 15 the stock that your right hand planted. CEB 16 It is burned with fire. It is chopped down. They die at the rebuke coming from you. NRS 16 They have burned it with fire, they have cut it down; may they perish at the rebuke of your countenance. CEB 17 Let your hand be with the one on your right side— with the one whom you secured as your own— NRS 17 But let your hand be upon the one at your right hand, the one whom you made strong for yourself. CEB 18 then we will not turn away from you! Revive us so that we can call on your name. NRS 18 Then we will never turn back from you; give us life, and we will call on your name. CEB 19 Restore us, LORD God of heavenly forces! Make your face shine so that we can be saved! NRS 19 Restore us, O Lord God of hosts; let your face shine, that we may be saved.
