1 Chronicles 6:1-11

1 The sons of Levi were Gerson, Caath, and Merari.
2 The Sons of Caath: Amram, Isaar, Hebron, and Oziel.
3 The children of Amram: Aaron, Moses, and Mary. The Sons of Aaron: Nadab and Abiu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
4 Eleazar begot Phinees, and Phinees begot Abisue,
5 And Abisue begot Bocci, and Bocci begot Ozi.
6 Ozi begot Zaraias, and Zaraias begot Maraioth.
7 And Maraioth begot Amarias, and Amarias begot Achitob.
8 Achitob begot Sadoc, and Sadoc begot Achimaas.
9 Achimaas begot Azarias, Azarias begot Johanan,
10 Johanan begot Azarias. This is he that executed the priestly office in the house which Solomon built in Jerusalem.
11 And Azarias begot Amarias, and Amarias begot Achitob.

INTRODUCTION TO 1 CHRONICLES 6

This chapter begins with the fathers and heads of the tribe of Levi, 1Ch 6:1-3, and reckons up the high priests in the line of Eleazar, to the Babylonish captivity, 1Ch 6:4-15 gives an account of the families of the sons of Levi, 1Ch 6:16-30 and of those Levites that were employed as singers, and in other ministrations in the sanctuary in the times of David and Solomon, 1Ch 6:31-49, then follows a repetition of the sons of Aaron in the line of Eleazar, to the said times, 1Ch 6:50-53, and a recital of the dwelling places of the Levites in the several tribes, 1Ch 6:54-81.
