But when1Silas and Timothy2camedown from 3Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself completely to the word, solemnly4testifying to the Jews that 5Jesus was the Christ.

But when they resisted and blasphemed, he 6shook out his garments and said to them, "Your 7blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on I will go8to the Gentiles."

Then he leftthere and went to the house of a mannamedTitiusJustus, 9a worshiper of God, whosehouse was next to the synagogue.

10Crispus, 11the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord12with all his household, and many of the 13Corinthians when they heard were believing and being baptized.

And the Lordsaid to Paul in the night by 14a vision, "Do not be afraid any longer, but go on speaking and do not be silent;

for I am with you, and noman will attack you in order to harm you, for I have manypeople in thiscity."

And he settled there a year and sixmonths, teaching the word of Godamong them.

But while Gallio was 15proconsul of 16Achaia, 17the Jews with oneaccordrose up againstPaul and brought him before18the judgmentseat,

saying, "Thismanpersuadesmen to worshipGodcontrary to 19the law."

But when Paul was about to 20open his mouth, Galliosaid to the Jews, "If it were a matter of wrongor of viciouscrime, OJews, it would be reasonable for me to put up with you;

but if there are 21questionsaboutwords and names and your own law, lookafter it yourselves; I amunwilling* to be a judge of these matters."
