1Crispus, 2the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord3with all his household, and many of the 4Corinthians when they heard were believing and being baptized.

And the Lordsaid to Paul in the night by 5a vision, "Do not be afraid any longer, but go on speaking and do not be silent;

for I am with you, and noman will attack you in order to harm you, for I have manypeople in thiscity."

And he settled there a year and sixmonths, teaching the word of Godamong them.

But while Gallio was 6proconsul of 7Achaia, 8the Jews with oneaccordrose up againstPaul and brought him before9the judgmentseat,

saying, "Thismanpersuadesmen to worshipGodcontrary to 10the law."

But when Paul was about to 11open his mouth, Galliosaid to the Jews, "If it were a matter of wrongor of viciouscrime, OJews, it would be reasonable for me to put up with you;

but if there are 12questionsaboutwords and names and your own law, lookafter it yourselves; I amunwilling* to be a judge of these matters."

And he drove them away from 13the judgmentseat.

And they alltookhold of 14Sosthenes, 15the leader of the synagogue, and began beating him in front of 16the judgmentseat. But Gallio was not concerned about any of thesethings.

Paul, having remainedmanydayslonger, 17tookleave of 18the brethren and put out to sea for 19Syria, and with him were 20Priscilla and 21Aquila. In 22Cenchrea he 23had his haircut, for he was keeping a vow.
