SoJesus, again being deeplymovedwithin*, came to the tomb. Now it was a 1cave, and a stone was lyingagainst it.

Jesussaid, "Remove the stone."Martha, the sister of the deceased, said to Him, "Lord, by thistime there will be a stench, for he has been dead 2fourdays."

Jesussaid to her, "3Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?"

So they removed the 4stone. ThenJesus5raised His eyes, and said, "6Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.

"I knew that You alwayshear Me; but 7because of the peoplestandingaround I said it, so that they may believe that 8You sent Me."

When He had saidthesethings, He cried out with a loudvoice, "Lazarus, comeforth."

The man who had diedcameforth, 9boundhand and foot with wrappings, and 10his face was wrappedaround with a cloth. Jesussaid to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."

11Thereforemany of the Jews12who came to Mary, and 13sawwhat He had done, believed in Him.

But some of them went to the 14Pharisees and told them the things whichJesus had done.

47Therefore15the chiefpriests and the Pharisees16convened a 17council, and were saying, "What are we doing? For thisman is performingmany18signs.

"If we let Him go on likethis, allmen will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and takeawayboth our 19place and our nation."
