20 And turning His gazetoward His disciples, He began to say, "11Blessed are you who are poor, for 12yours is the kingdom of God.
21
"Blessed are you who hungernow, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weepnow, for you shall laugh.
22
"13Blessed are you whenmenhate you, and 14ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man.
23
"Be glad in that day and 15leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For 16in the sameway their fathers used to treat the prophets.
24
"But woe to 17you who are rich, for 18you are receiving your comfort in full.
25
"Woe to you who are well-fednow, for you shall be hungry. Woe to you who laughnow, for you shall mourn and weep.
26
"Woe to you whenallmenspeakwell of you, for their fathers used to treat the 19falseprophets in the sameway.
27
"But I say to you who hear, 20love your enemies, dogood to those who hate you,
28
blessthose who curse you, 21pray for those who mistreat you.
29
"22Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the otheralso; and whoever takesaway your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either.
30
"Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takesawaywhat is yours, do not demand it back.
31
"23Treatothers the sameway you want them to treat you.
32
"24If you lovethose who love you, whatcredit is that to you? For evensinnerslovethose who love them.
33
"If you dogood to those who dogood to you, whatcredit is that to you? For evensinnersdo the same.
34
"25If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, whatcredit is that to you? Evensinnerslend to sinners in order to receiveback the same amount.
35
"But 26love your enemies, and dogood, and lend, expectingnothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be 27sons of 28the MostHigh; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.
37
"29Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; 30pardon, and you will be pardoned.
38
"Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour31into your lap a 32goodmeasure-presseddown, shakentogether, and runningover. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return."
39
And He alsospoke a parable to them: "33A blindmancannot*guide a blindman, can he? Will they not bothfall into a pit?

41
"Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother'seye, but do not notice the log that is in your owneye?
42
"Or howcan you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, firsttake the log out of your own eye, and then you will seeclearly to take out the speck that is in your brother'seye.
43
"35For there is nogoodtree which producesbadfruit, nor, on the otherhand, a badtree which producesgoodfruit.
44
"36For eachtree is known by its ownfruit. For men do not gatherfigs from thorns, nor do they pickgrapes from a briarbush.
45
"37The goodman out of the goodtreasure of his heartbringsforthwhat is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure bringsforthwhat is evil; 38for his mouthspeaks from that whichfills his heart.

46"39Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not dowhat I say?
47
"40Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like:
48
he is like a manbuilding a house, whodugdeep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a floodoccurred, the torrentburstagainst that house and could not shake it, because it had been wellbuilt.
49
"But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the groundwithout any foundation; and the torrentburstagainst it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great."
