14"1For it is justlike a man2about to go on a journey, who called his ownslaves and entrusted his possessions to them.
15
"To one he gavefive3talents, to another*, two, and to another*, one, eachaccording to his ownability; and he 4went on his journey.
16
"Immediately the one who had received the five5talentswent and traded with them, and gainedfivemore talents.
17
"In the samemanner the one who had received the two talents gainedtwomore.
18
"But he who received the one talent wentaway, and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master'smoney.
19
"Nowafter a longtime the master of thoseslavescame and 6settledaccounts with them.
20
"The one who had received the five7talentscame up and broughtfivemoretalents, saying, 'Master, you entrustedfivetalents to me. See, I have gainedfivemoretalents.'
21
"His mastersaid to him, 'Welldone, good and 8faithfulslave. You were faithful with a fewthings, I will 9put you in charge of manythings; enter into the joy of your master.'
22
"Also the onewho had received the two10talentscame up and said, 'Master, you entrustedtwotalents to me. See, I have gainedtwomoretalents.'
23
"His mastersaid to him, 'Welldone, good and 11faithfulslave. You were faithful with a fewthings, I will put you in charge of manythings; enter into the joy of your master.'
24
"And the one also who had received the one12talentcame up and said, 'Master, I knew you to be a hardman, reapingwhere you did not sow and gatheringwhere you scatteredno seed.
25
'And I was afraid, and wentaway and hid your talent in the ground. See, you havewhat is yours.'
26
"But his masteranswered and said to him, 'You wicked, lazyslave, you knew that I reapwhere I did not sow and gatherwhere I scatteredno seed.
27
'Then you ought to have put my money in the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest.
28
'Thereforetakeaway the talent from him, and give it to the one who has the tentalents.'
29
"13For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, evenwhat he does have shall be takenaway.
30
"Throw out the worthlessslave into 14the outerdarkness; in that placethere will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
The Judgment
31"But when15the Son of Mancomes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then16He will sit on His gloriousthrone.
32
"All the nations will be 17gatheredbefore Him; and He will separate them from oneanother, 18as the shepherdseparates the sheep from the goats;
33
and He will put the sheep19on His right, and the goats20on the left.
34
"Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, 21inherit the kingdomprepared for you 22from the foundation of the world.
35
'For 23I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; 24I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;
36
25naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you 26visited Me; 27I was in prison, and you came to Me.'
37
"Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, orthirsty, and give You something to drink?
38
'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, ornaked, and clothe You?
39
'When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?'
40
"28The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, 29to the extent* that you did it to one of thesebrothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'
41
"Then He will alsosay to those on His left, '30Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the 31eternalfire which has been prepared for 32the devil and his angels;
42
for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink;
43
I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.'
44
"Then they themselvesalso will answer, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, orthirsty, or a stranger, ornaked, orsick, or in prison, and did not takecare of You?'
45
"Then He will answer them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent* that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'
46
"These will goaway into 33eternalpunishment, but the righteous into 34eternallife."
