And they conferred*together and with the moneybought the Potter'sField as a burialplace for strangers.

1For thisreason that field has been called the Field of Blood to thisday.

Then that which was spokenthroughJeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "2AND THEY TOOK THE THIRTYPIECES OF SILVER, THE PRICE OF THE ONE WHOSEPRICE HAD BEEN SET by the sons of Israel;

And while He was being accused by the chiefpriests and elders, 7He did not answer.

ThenPilatesaid to Him, "Do You not hearhowmanythings they testifyagainst You?"

And 8He did not answer him with regard to even a single charge, so the governor was quiteamazed.

9Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release for the people any oneprisonerwhom they wanted.

At that time they were holding a notoriousprisoner, calledBarabbas.

So when the peoplegatheredtogether, Pilatesaid to them, "Whom do you want me to release for you? Barabbas, orJesus10who is calledChrist?"
