Isaías 27:1-10

1 Aquel día el SEÑOR castigará con su espada feroz, grande y poderosa, a Leviatán , serpiente huidiza, a Leviatán, serpiente tortuosa, y matará al dragón que vive en el mar.

2 Aquel día se dirá: Una viña de vino; de ella cantad.

3 Yo, el SEÑOR, soy su guardador; a cada momento la riego. Para que nadie la dañe, la guardo noche y día.

4 No tengo furor. Si alguien me da zarzas y espinos en batalla, los pisotearé, los quemaré completamente,

5 a no ser que él confíe en mi protección, que haga la paz conmigo, que conmigo haga la paz.

6 En los días venideros Jacob echará raíz, Israel florecerá y brotará, y llenarán el mundo entero de fruto.

7 ¿Acaso con la herida del que lo hirió fue herido, o como con la matanza de sus muertos fue muerto?

8 Contendiste con ella desterrándola , expulsándola. Con su soplo violento la echó en el día del viento solano.

9 Así pues, con esto la iniquidad de Jacob será perdonada, y este será todo el fruto del perdón de su pecado; cuando haga todas las piedras del altar como piedras de cal pulverizadas; cuando no estén en pie las Aseras y los altares de incienso.

10 Porque solitaria está la ciudad fortificada, una morada desamparada y abandonada como un desierto; allí pastará el becerro, y allí se echará y se alimentará de sus ramas.

INTRODUCTION TO ISAIAH 27

This chapter refers to the same times as the two foregoing ones Isa 25:1-26:21; and is a continuation of the same song, or rather a new one on the same occasion; it is prophetical of the last times, and of what shall be done in them, as the destruction of the antichristian powers, and Satan at the head of them, Isa 27:1 the happy state of the church, and its fruitfulness under the care and protection of the Lord, and his affection for it, Isa 27:2-4 its peace, prosperity, and flourishing condition, Isa 27:5,6 the nature, use, and end of all its afflictions and chastisements, Isa 27:7-9 the ruin and destruction of the city of Rome, and its inhabitants, and of its whole jurisdiction, Isa 27:10,11 a great gathering and conversion of the Lord's people, both Jews and Gentiles, by the ministry of the Gospel, Isa 27:12,13.
