Salmos 48:1-9

1 Grande es el SEÑOR y digno de ser en gran manera alabado en la ciudad de nuestro Dios, en el monte de su santidad

2 Hermosa provincia, el gozo de toda la tierra es el monte de Sion, a los lados del aquilón, la ciudad del gran Rey

3 Dios en sus palacios es conocido por lugar de refugio

4 Porque he aquí los reyes de la tierra fueron reunidos; pasaron todos

5 Y viéndola ellos así, se maravillaron, se asombraron, se dieron prisa a huir

6 Les tomó allí temblor; dolor, como a mujer que da a luz

7 Con viento solano quiebras tú las naves de Tarsis

8 Como lo oímos, así lo hemos visto en la ciudad del SEÑOR de los ejércitos, en la ciudad de nuestro Dios; la afirmará Dios para siempre. (Selah.

9 Concebimos según tu misericordia, oh Dios, en medio de tu Templo

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 48

This psalm is entitled a "song psalm", a psalm to be sung vocally; or "a song and psalm" to be sung both vocally and instrumentally; and is one of the spiritual songs the apostle speaks of, Eph 5:19; It was occasioned, as some think, by David's spoiling the Philistines, 2Sa 5:17-21; or, as others, by the deliverance of the people from the Moabites and Ammonites in the times of Jehoshaphat, 2Ch 20:27,28; or, as others, by the deliverance of the inhabitants of Jerusalem from Sennacherib in the times of Hezekiah, 2Ki 19:34,35; though as Kimchi, a celebrated Jewish commentator, owns, it belongs to the times of the Messiah, as the other preceding psalms; and treats of his greatness, and of the praise and glory due to him, and gives large encomiums of his church.
