He says to himself, "Nothing will shake me; I'll always be happy1 and never have trouble."
His mouth is full of curses2 and lies and threats;3 trouble and evil are under his tongue.48
He lies in wait5 near the villages; from ambush he murders the innocent,6 watching in secret for his victims.
He lies in wait like a lion in cover; he lies in wait to catch the helpless;7 he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.810
His victims are crushed,9 they collapse; they fall under his strength.
He says to himself, "God has forgotten;10 he covers his face and never sees."1112
Arise,12 LORD! Lift up your hand,13 O God. Do not forget the helpless.1413
Why does the wicked man revile God?15 Why does he say to himself, "He won't call me to account"?1614
But you, O God, do see trouble17 and grief; you consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to you;18 you are the helper19 of the fatherless.
Break the arm of the wicked and evil man;20 call him to account for his wickedness that would not be found out.
The LORD is King for ever and ever;21 the nations22 will perish from his land.
