29 Keep me from deceitful ways;¹ be gracious to me² through your law. 30 I have chosen³ the way of truth;⁴ I have set my heart⁵ on your laws. 31 I hold fast⁶ to your statutes, O LORD; do not let me be put to shame. 32 I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free.

33 Teach me,⁷ O LORD, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end. 34 Give me understanding,⁸ and I will keep your law⁹ and obey it with all my heart.¹⁰ 35 Direct me¹¹ in the path of your commands,¹² for there I find delight.¹³ 36 Turn my heart¹⁴ toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.¹⁵ 37 Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life¹⁶ according to your word.^a¹⁷ 38 Fulfill your promise¹⁸ to your servant, so that you may be feared. 39 Take away the disgrace¹⁹ I dread, for your laws are good.
