33 Teach me,¹ O LORD, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end. 34 Give me understanding,² and I will keep your law³ and obey it with all my heart.⁴ 35 Direct me⁵ in the path of your commands,⁶ for there I find delight.⁷ 36 Turn my heart⁸ toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.⁹ 37 Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life¹⁰ according to your word.^a¹¹ 38 Fulfill your promise¹² to your servant, so that you may be feared. 39 Take away the disgrace¹³ I dread, for your laws are good. 40 How I long¹⁴ for your precepts! Preserve my life¹⁵ in your righteousness.
