1"To the angela of the church in Ephesus1 write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand2 and walks among the seven golden lampstands:32I know your deeds,4 your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested5 those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.63You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name,7 and have not grown weary.4Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.85Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent9 and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand10 from its place.6But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans,11 which I also hate.7He who has an ear, let him hear12 what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes,13 I will give the right to eat from the tree of life,14 which is in the paradise15 of God.
8"To the angel of the church in Smyrna16 write: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last,17 who died and came to life again.189I know your afflictions and your poverty--yet you are rich!19 I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not,20 but are a synagogue of Satan.21
