Samuel 31:8-13

It came about on the next day when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.
They cut off his head and stripped off his weapons, and sent them throughout the land of the Philistines, 1to carry the good news 2to the house of their idols and to the people.
They put his weapons in the temple of 3Ashtaroth, and 4they fastened his body to the wall of 5Beth-shan.
Now when 6the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead * heard what the Philistines had done to Saul,
7all the valiant men rose and walked all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth-shan, and they came to Jabesh and 8burned them there.
They took their bones and 9buried them under 10the tamarisk tree at Jabesh, and 11fasted seven days.
