1Therefore 2I send you 3prophets and wise men and 4scribes, 5some of whom you will kill and crucify, and 6some you will 7flog in your synagogues and 8persecute from town to town,

so that on you may come all 9the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of innocent 10Abel to the blood of 11Zechariah the son of Barachiah,[a] whom you murdered between 12the sanctuary and 13the altar.
