But He said, "3The things that are impossible with people are possible with God."

Petersaid, "Behold, 4we have left our own homes and followed You."

And He said to them, "Truly I say to you, 5there is noonewho has lefthouseorwifeorbrothersorparentsorchildren, for the sake of the kingdom of God,

who will not receivemanytimes as much at thistime and in 6the age to come, eternallife."

7Then He took the twelveaside and said to them, "Behold, 8we are going up to Jerusalem, and 9allthings which are writtenthrough the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished.

"10For He will be handed over to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and mistreated and spit upon,
33
and after they have scourged Him, they will kill Him; and the thirdday He will riseagain."

But 11the disciples understoodnone of thesethings, and the meaning of thisstatement was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend the things that were said.
Bartimaeus Receives Sight
3512As 13Jesus was approachingJericho, a blindman was sitting by the roadbegging.

Nowhearing a crowdgoing by, he began to inquirewhatthis was.

They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.

And he called out, saying, "Jesus, 14Son of David, havemercy on me!"

Those who led the way were sternlytelling him to be quiet; but he kept crying out all the more, "15Son of David, havemercy on me!"

And Jesusstopped and commanded that he be brought to Him; and when he camenear, He questioned him,
41
"What do you want Me to do for you?" And he said, "Lord, I want to regain my sight!"
42
And Jesussaid to him, "Receive your sight; 16your faith has made you well."
43
Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him, 17glorifyingGod; and when 18all the peoplesaw it, they gavepraise to God.
