2 John 1:11

11 For he that wisheth him happiness, is partaker of his evil deeds.

2 John 1:11 Meaning and Commentary

2 John 1:11

For he that biddeth him God speed
Wishes him well, and success in his ministry, or in a friendly and familiar way converses with him:

is partaker of his evil deeds;
he has fellowship with him, instead of reproving or shunning him, as he ought; he is an abettor of him in his principles, and so far joins in the propagation of them, and helps to spread them, and gives too much reason to think he is one with him in them.

2 John 1:11 In-Context

9 Whoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 If any one cometh to you, and bringeth not this doctrine, receive him not into [your] house, neither wish him happiness:
11 For he that wisheth him happiness, is partaker of his evil deeds.
12 Having many things to write to you, I would not [write] with paper and ink: but I trust to come to you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
13 The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
