Deuteronomy 19:8 Meaning and Commentary

Deuteronomy 19:8

And if the Lord thy God enlarge thy coast
Extend it further than it was upon their first settlement, even carry it as far as the river Euphrates, as in the times of Solomon, ( 1 Kings 4:21 1 Kings 4:24 ) . Jarchi interprets it of such an enlargement as to give them the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites and Kadmonites:

(as he hath sworn unto thy fathers), and give thee all the land which
he promised to give unto thy, fathers:
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; see ( Genesis 15:19 ) ( Genesis 26:3 Genesis 26:4 ) ( Genesis 28:13 Genesis 28:14 ) .

Deuteronomy 19:8 In-Context

6 Lest the avenger of blood shall pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he [was] not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.
7 Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.
8 And if the LORD thy God shall enlarge thy limits, as he hath sworn to thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give to thy fathers;
9 If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, besides these three:
10 That innocent blood may not be shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee [for] an inheritance, and [so] blood be upon thee.
