2 And the Lord said to Joshua, Lo! I have given into thine hands Jericho, and the king thereof, and all the strong men of it. (And the Lord said to Joshua, Lo! I have given Jericho into thy hands, and its king, and all the strong men there.)

Joshua 6:2

And the Lord said unto Joshua
The same divine Person called in the preceding chapter the Captain of the Lord's host, ( Joshua 5:14 ) , now with him, and who gave him the following orders, instructions, and assurances:

see, I have given into thy hand Jericho, and the king thereof:
which might be concluded from the fear that was fallen upon the inhabitants of the city and their king, and from their shutting themselves up so closely, not daring to come out against Israel: and especially from this declaration and promise of the Lord; and which should be done in such a manner, as that it would clearly appear to be of the Lord, and not men:

[and] the mighty men of valour;
the military men, the soldiers, or army that were under the command of the king of Jericho; or, as Kimchi reads it, "though" mighty men, yet they should not be able to defend the city, or hinder its falling into their hands; for what were they to the mighty God of Israel?

Joshua 6:2 In-Context

1 Forsooth Jericho was (en)closed and warded, for the dread of the sons of Israel (for fear of the Israelites), and no man durst enter, either go out.

2 And the Lord said to Joshua, Lo! I have given into thine hands Jericho, and the king thereof, and all the strong men of it. (And the Lord said to Joshua, Lo! I have given Jericho into thy hands, and its king, and all the strong men there.)

3 All ye fighters, compass the city once by the day; so ye shall do in six days (so ye shall do for six days).

4 And in the seventh day, the priests shall take seven clarions, which be used in the jubilee; and they shall go before the ark of [the] bond of peace; and seven times ye shall compass the city, and the priests shall trump with the clarions. (And on the seventh day, the priests shall take seven trumpets, which be used on the Jubilee; and they shall go before the Ark of the Covenant; and seven times ye shall go around the city, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.)

5 And when the voice of the trump shall sound longer, and more by whiles, and shall sound in your ears, all the people shall cry together with (the) greatest cry; and the walls of the city shall fall all-down (and the city walls shall all fall down), and all (the) men shall enter by the place, against which they stand.
