AndPaul, earnestly beholding the council,said , Men and brethren,I have lived in allgoodconscience before Goduntilthisday.

And the high priestAnaniascommanded them that stood byhim to smitehim on the mouth.

ThensaidPauluntohim,Godshallsmitethee, thou whitedwall:forsittestthou to judgemeafter the law,andcommandestme to be smitten contrary to the law ?

And they that stood bysaid , Revilest thouGod's high priest?

ThensaidPaul, I wistnot,brethren,that he was the high priest:for it is written , Thou shaltnotspeakevil of the ruler of thypeople.

But when Paulperceivedthat the onepartwereSadducees,and the otherPharisees, he cried outin the council,Men and brethren,Iam a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee:of the hopeandresurrection of the deadI am called in question .

And when hehadsosaid , there arose a dissension between the Phariseesand the Sadducees:and the multitude was divided .
