Now they were 1MaryMagdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James; also the otherwomen with them were tellingthesethings to 2the apostles.

But thesewordsappeared to them as nonsense, and they 3would not believe them.

But Petergot up and 4ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linenwrappingsonly; and he wentaway5to his home, marveling at what had happened.

13 And behold, 6two of them were going that veryday to a villagenamedEmmaus, which was about sevenmiles from Jerusalem.

And they were talking with eachotheraboutallthesethings which had takenplace.

While they were talking and discussing, JesusHimselfapproached and began traveling with them.

But 7their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him.

And He said to them, "What are thesewords that you are exchanging with oneanother as you are walking?" And they stoodstill, lookingsad.

One of them, namedCleopas, answered and said to Him, "Are You the onlyonevisitingJerusalem and unaware* of the things which have happenedhere* in thesedays?"

And He said to them, "Whatthings?" And they said to Him, "The things about8Jesus the Nazarene, who was a 9prophetmighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people,
