God's Indictment of His People

Hear now what the LORD is saying, "Arise, plead your case before the mountains, And let the hills hear your voice.
"Listen, you mountains, to the indictment of the LORD, And you enduring 1foundations of the earth, Because the 2LORD has a case against His people; Even with Israel He will dispute.
"3My people, 4what have I done to you, And 5how have I wearied you? Answer Me.
"Indeed, I 6brought you up from the land of Egypt And 7ransomed you from the house of slavery, And I sent before you 8Moses, Aaron and 9Miriam.
"My people, remember now What 10Balak king of Moab counseled And what Balaam son of Beor answered him, And from 11Shittim to 12Gilgal, So that you might know the 13righteous acts of the LORD."

What God Requires of Man

14With what shall I come to the LORD And bow myself before the God on high? Shall I come to Him with 15burnt offerings, With yearling calves?
Does the LORD take delight in 16thousands of rams, In ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I present my 17firstborn for my rebellious acts, The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
He has 18told you, O man, what is good; And 19what does the LORD require of you But to 20do justice, to 21love kindness, And to walk 22humbly with your God?
