2 Samuel 3:1

1 Now there was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David; and David grew steadily stronger, but the house of Saul grew weaker continually.

2 Samuel 3:6

6 It came about while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David that Abner was making himself strong in the house of Saul.

2 Samuel 18:9

9 Now Absalom happened to meet the servants of David. For Absalom was riding on his mule, and the mule went under the thick branches of a great oak. And his head caught fast in the oak, so he was left hanging between heaven and earth, while the mule that was under him kept going.
