1 Y los filisteos juntaron todos sus campamentos en Afec; e Israel puso su campamento junto a la fuente que <I>está</I> en Jezreel (<I>Dios esparce</I> ).

The Philistines gathered all their forces at Aphek, and Israel camped by the spring in Jezreel.
2 Y reconociendo los príncipes de los filisteos sus compañías de a ciento y de a mil hombres, David y los suyos iban en los postreros con Aquis.

As the Philistine rulers marched with their units of hundreds and thousands, David and his men were marching at the rear with Achish.
3 Y dijeron los príncipes de los filisteos: ¿Qué hacen aquí estos hebreos? Y Aquis respondió a los príncipes de los filisteos: ¿No <I>es</I> éste David, el siervo de Saúl rey de Israel, que ha estado conmigo algunos días o algunos años, y no he hallado cosa en él desde el día que se pasó <I>a mí</I> hasta hoy?

The commanders of the Philistines asked, “What about these Hebrews?” Achish replied, “Is this not David, who was an officer of Saul king of Israel? He has already been with me for over a year, and from the day he left Saul until now, I have found no fault in him.”
4 Entonces los príncipes de los filisteos se enojaron contra él, y le dijeron: Envía a <I>este</I> hombre, que se vuelva al lugar que le señalaste, y no venga con nosotros a la batalla, no sea que en la batalla se nos vuelva enemigo; porque ¿con qué cosa volvería <I>mejor</I> a la gracia de su señor que con las cabezas de estos hombres?

But the Philistine commanders were angry with Achish and said, “Send the man back, that he may return to the place you assigned him. He must not go with us into battle, or he will turn against us during the fighting. How better could he regain his master’s favor than by taking the heads of our own men?
5 ¿No <I>es</I> éste David de quien cantaban en los corros, diciendo: Saúl hirió sus miles, y David sus diez miles?

Isn’t this the David they sang about in their dances: “ ‘Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands’?”
6 Y Aquis llamó a David, y le dijo: Vive el SEÑOR, que tú has sido recto, y que me ha parecido bien tu salida y entrada en el campamento conmigo, y que ninguna cosa mala he hallado en ti desde el día que viniste a mí hasta hoy; mas en los ojos de los príncipes no agradas.

So Achish called David and said to him, “As surely as the LORD lives, you have been reliable, and I would be pleased to have you serve with me in the army. From the day you came to me until today, I have found no fault in you, but the rulers don’t approve of you.
7 Vuélvete, pues, y vete en paz; y no hagas lo malo en los ojos de los príncipes de los filisteos.

Now turn back and go in peace; do nothing to displease the Philistine rulers.”
8 Y David respondió a Aquis: ¿Qué he hecho? ¿Qué has hallado en tu siervo desde el día que <I>estoy</I> contigo hasta hoy, para que <I>yo</I> no vaya y pelee contra los enemigos de mi señor el rey?

“But what have I done?” asked David. “What have you found against your servant from the day I came to you until now? Why can’t I go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?”
9 Y Aquis respondió a David, y dijo: Yo sé que tú <I>eres</I> bueno en mis ojos, como un ángel de Dios; mas los príncipes de los filisteos han dicho: No venga <I>éste</I> con nosotros a la batalla.

Achish answered, “I know that you have been as pleasing in my eyes as an angel of God; nevertheless, the Philistine commanders have said, ‘He must not go up with us into battle.’
10 Levántate, pues, de mañana, tú y los siervos de tu señor que han venido contigo; y levantándoos de mañana, luego al amanecer partíos.

Now get up early, along with your master’s servants who have come with you, and leave in the morning as soon as it is light.”
11 Y se levantó David de mañana, él y los suyos, para irse y volverse a la tierra de los filisteos; y los filisteos fueron a Jezreel.

So David and his men got up early in the morning to go back to the land of the Philistines, and the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
