1 Lún dào jì ǒuxiàng zhī wù , wǒmen xiǎodé wǒmen dōu yǒu zhīshi . dàn zhīshi shì jiào rén zì gāo zì dà , wéiyǒu aì xīn néng zào jiù rén .
1
Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that “We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up.
2 Ruò yǒu rén yǐwéi zìjǐ zhīdào shénme , àn tā suǒ dàng zhīdào de , tā réng shì bú zhīdào .
2
Those who think they know something do not yet know as they ought to know.
3 Ruò yǒu rén aì shén , zhè rén nǎi shì shén suǒ zhīdào de .
3
But whoever loves God is known by God.
4 Lún dào chī jì ǒuxiàng zhī wù , wǒmen zhīdào ǒuxiàng zaì shìshang suàn bùdé shénme . yĕ zhīdào shén zhǐyǒu yī wèi , zaì méiyǒu biéde shén .
4
So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.”
5 Suī yǒu chēngwèi shén de , huò zaì tiān , huò zaì dì . jiù rú nà xǔduō de shén , xǔduō de zhǔ .
5
For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”),
6 Ránér wǒmen zhǐyǒu yī wèi shén , jiù shì fù , wànwù dōu bĕn yú tā , wǒmen yĕ guīyú tā . bìng yǒu yī wèi zhǔ , jiù shì Yēsū Jīdū , wànwù dōu shì jiè zhe tā yǒude , wǒmen yĕ shì jiè zhe tā yǒude .
6
yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.
7 Dàn rén bú dōu yǒu zhè dĕng zhīshi . yǒu rén dào rújīn yīn baì guàn le ǒuxiàng , jiù yǐwéi suǒ chī de shì jì ǒuxiàng zhī wù . tāmende liángxīn jìrán ruǎnfuò , yĕ jiù wūhuì le .
7
But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled.
8 Qíshí shíwù bùnéng jiào shén kàn zhōng wǒmen . yīnwei wǒmen bú chī yĕ wú sún , chī yĕ wúyì .
8
But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.
9 Zhǐshì nǐmen yào jǐnshèn , kǒngpà nǐmen zhè zìyóu , jìng chéng le nà ruǎnfuò rén de bàn jiǎo shí .
9
Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak.
10 Ruò yǒu rén jiàn nǐ zhè yǒu zhīshi de , zaì ǒuxiàng de miào lǐ zuòxí , zhè rén de liángxīn ruò shì ruǎnfuò , qǐbù fàngdǎn qù chī nà jì ǒuxiàng zhī wù ma .
10
For if someone with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols?
11 Yīncǐ , Jīdū wéi tā sǐ de nà ruǎnfuò dìxiōng , yĕ jiù yīn nǐde zhīshi chén lún le .
11
So this weak brother or sister, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge.
12 Nǐmen zhèyàng dé zuì dìxiōng men , shāng le tāmen ruǎnfuò de liángxīn , jiù shì dé zuì Jīdū .
12
When you sin against them in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
13 Suǒyǐ shíwù ruò jiào wǒ dìxiōng diēdǎo , wǒ jiù yǒngyuǎn bú chī ròu , miǎndé jiào wǒ dìxiōng diēdǎo le .
13
Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.
