1 Chronicles 16

LEB 1 And they brought the ark of God and set it inside the tent that David had pitched for it. And they offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before God. NIV 1 They brought the ark of God and set it inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and they presented burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before God. LEB 2 And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh. NIV 2 After David had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD. LEB 3 And he distributed to every man of Israel, both men and women, to each [person] a loaf of bread, a cake of dates, and a cake of raisins. NIV 3 Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins to each Israelite man and woman. LEB 4 Then he appointed some of the Levites as ministers before the ark of Yahweh, to invoke, thank, and praise Yahweh the God of Israel. NIV 4 He appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to extol, thank, and praise the LORD, the God of Israel: LEB 5 Asaph [was] chief, and his second [was] Zechariah; Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel [were] on harps and lyres. And Asaph played on the cymbals. NIV 5 Asaph was the chief, and next to him in rank were Zechariah, then Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom and Jeiel. They were to play the lyres and harps, Asaph was to sound the cymbals, LEB 6 And Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests [blew] on the trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God. NIV 6 and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow the trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God. LEB 7 Then on that day David first appointed to give thanks to Yahweh by the hand of Asaph and his brothers. NIV 7 That day David first appointed Asaph and his associates to give praise to the LORD in this manner: LEB 8 Give thanks to Yahweh; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the nations! NIV 8 Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. LEB 9 Sing to him; sing praises to him; tell of his wondrous works! NIV 9 Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. LEB 10 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those seeking Yahweh rejoice! NIV 10 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. LEB 11 Seek Yahweh and his strength; seek his face continually! NIV 11 Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. LEB 12 Remember his wonderful works that he has done, his wonders and the judgments of his mouth, NIV 12 Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced, LEB 13 O offspring of Israel, his servant, O sons of Jacob, his chosen ones! NIV 13 you his servants, the descendants of Israel, his chosen ones, the children of Jacob. LEB 14 He [is] Yahweh our God; his judgments [are] in all the earth. NIV 14 He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth. LEB 15 Remember his covenant forever, the word he commanded for a thousand generations, NIV 15 He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he made, for a thousand generations, LEB 16 that he {made} with Abraham, his sworn oath to Isaac. NIV 16 the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac. LEB 17 And he confirmed it to Jacob as a statute, an everlasting covenant to Israel, NIV 17 He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant: LEB 18 saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan, the portion of your inheritance." NIV 18 “To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit.” LEB 19 When you were few in number, little, and sojourners [were] in it, NIV 19 When they were but few in number, few indeed, and strangers in it, LEB 20 when they wandered from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people, NIV 20 they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another. LEB 21 he did not allow anyone to oppress them, and he rebuked kings on their account, NIV 21 He allowed no one to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings: LEB 22 [saying,] "You must not touch my anointed nor do harm to my prophets!" NIV 22 “Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.” LEB 23 Sing to Yahweh, all the earth! Proclaim his salvation from day to day! NIV 23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day. LEB 24 Proclaim his glory among the nations, his wondrous works among the peoples! NIV 24 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. LEB 25 For Yahweh [is] great and greatly praised, and he is feared among all gods. NIV 25 For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. LEB 26 For all the gods of the nations [are] idols, but Yahweh made the heavens. NIV 26 For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. LEB 27 Splendor and majesty [are] before him; strength and joy [are] in his place. NIV 27 Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his dwelling place. LEB 28 Ascribe to Yahweh, O clans of the nations, ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength! NIV 28 Ascribe to the LORD, all you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. LEB 29 Ascribe to Yahweh the glory of his name! Lift up an offering and come before him! Bow down to Yahweh in the splendor of holiness! NIV 29 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness. LEB 30 Tremble before him, all the earth; surely the world shall not be shaken. NIV 30 Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved. LEB 31 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad, and let them tell the peoples, "Yahweh reigns!" NIV 31 Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!” LEB 32 Let the sea roar and its fullness; let the field rejoice and all that [is] in it. NIV 32 Let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them! LEB 33 Then the trees of the forest shall sing for joy before Yahweh, for he comes to judge the earth. NIV 33 Let the trees of the forest sing, let them sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. LEB 34 Oh give thanks to Yahweh, for he [is] good; his loyal love [is] everlasting. NIV 34 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. LEB 35 Then say, "Save us, O God of our salvation; gather us and rescue us from the nations that [we may] give thanks to your holy name [and] glory in your praise. NIV 35 Cry out, “Save us, God our Savior; gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name, and glory in your praise.” LEB 36 Blessed be Yahweh the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!" Then all the people said, "Amen!" and praised Yahweh. NIV 36 Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then all the people said “Amen” and “Praise the LORD.” LEB 37 So he left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh to minister before the ark regularly {as each day required}, NIV 37 David left Asaph and his associates before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister there regularly, according to each day’s requirements. LEB 38 and [he left] Obed-Edom with his sixty-eight brothers. And Obed-Edom, the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah [were] gatekeepers. NIV 38 He also left Obed-Edom and his sixty-eight associates to minister with them. Obed-Edom son of Jeduthun, and also Hosah, were gatekeepers. LEB 39 And [he left] Zadok the priest and his brothers the priests before the tabernacle of Yahweh at the high place which [was] at Gibeon NIV 39 David left Zadok the priest and his fellow priests before the tabernacle of the LORD at the high place in Gibeon LEB 40 to offer burnt offerings regularly to Yahweh on the altar of burnt offering, morning and evening, according to all that was written in the law of Yahweh that he commanded concerning Israel. NIV 40 to present burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offering regularly, morning and evening, in accordance with everything written in the Law of the LORD, which he had given Israel. LEB 41 And with them [were] Heman and Jeduthun and the remainder of those chosen, who were designated by name to give thanks to Yahweh, for his loyal love [is] everlasting. NIV 41 With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the LORD, “for his love endures forever.” LEB 42 And Heman and Jeduthun with them [had] trumpets and cymbals for making music, along with instruments for the song of God. And the sons of Jeduthun [were] at the gate. NIV 42 Heman and Jeduthun were responsible for the sounding of the trumpets and cymbals and for the playing of the other instruments for sacred song. The sons of Jeduthun were stationed at the gate. LEB 43 Then all the people went each to his house, and David turned to bless his household. NIV 43 Then all the people left, each for their own home, and David returned home to bless his family.
