1 John 2:7-17

TMBA 7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the Word which ye have heard from the beginning. NIV 7 Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. TMBA 8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is past and the true light now shineth. NIV 8 Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining. TMBA 9 He that saith he is in the light and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. NIV 9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. TMBA 10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is no occasion for stumbling in him. NIV 10 Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. TMBA 11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. NIV 11 But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them. TMBA 12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name's sake. NIV 12 I am writing to you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name. TMBA 13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known Him that isŒfrom the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. NIV 13 I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. TMBA 14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known Him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the Word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. NIV 14 I write to you, dear children, because you know the Father. I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one. TMBA 15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. NIV 15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. TMBA 16 For all that is in the world -- the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life -- is not of the Father, but is of the world. NIV 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. TMBA 17 And the world passeth away and the lust thereof, but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. NIV 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
