1 Kings 19:4-8

GNT 4 Elijah walked a whole day into the wilderness. He stopped and sat down in the shade of a tree and wished he would die. "It's too much, Lord," he prayed. "Take away my life; I might as well be dead!" NIV 4 while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, LORD,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” GNT 5 He lay down under the tree and fell asleep. Suddenly an angel touched him and said, "Wake up and eat." NIV 5 Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.” GNT 6 He looked around and saw a loaf of bread and a jar of water near his head. He ate and drank, and lay down again. NIV 6 He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again. GNT 7 The Lord's angel returned and woke him up a second time, saying, "Get up and eat, or the trip will be too much for you." NIV 7 The angel of the LORD came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.” GNT 8 Elijah got up, ate and drank, and the food gave him enough strength to walk forty days to Sinai, the holy mountain. NIV 8 So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.
