1 Peter 4:9-19

NLT 9 Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay. NIV 9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. NLT 10 God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. NIV 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. NLT 11 Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. NIV 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. NLT 12 Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. NIV 12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. NLT 13 Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world. NIV 13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. NLT 14 If you are insulted because you bear the name of Christ, you will be blessed, for the glorious Spirit of God rests upon you. NIV 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. NLT 15 If you suffer, however, it must not be for murder, stealing, making trouble, or prying into other people’s affairs. NIV 15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. NLT 16 But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his name! NIV 16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. NLT 17 For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News? NIV 17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? NLT 18 And also, “If the righteous are barely saved, what will happen to godless sinners?” NIV 18 And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” NLT 19 So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you. NIV 19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
