VULA 1 huius rei gratia ego Paulus vinctus Christi Iesu pro vobis gentibus NIV 1 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles— VULA 2 si tamen audistis dispensationem gratiae Dei quae data est mihi in vobis NIV 2 Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me for you, VULA 3 quoniam secundum revelationem notum mihi factum est sacramentum sicut supra scripsi in brevi NIV 3 that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly. VULA 4 prout potestis legentes intellegere prudentiam meam in mysterio Christi NIV 4 In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, VULA 5 quod aliis generationibus non est agnitum filiis hominum sicuti nunc revelatum est sanctis apostolis eius et prophetis in Spiritu NIV 5 which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets. VULA 6 esse gentes coheredes et concorporales et conparticipes promissionis in Christo Iesu per evangelium NIV 6 This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus. VULA 7 cuius factus sum minister secundum donum gratiae Dei quae data est mihi secundum operationem virtutis eius NIV 7 I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power. VULA 8 mihi omnium sanctorum minimo data est gratia haec in gentibus evangelizare ininvestigabiles divitias Christi NIV 8 Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, VULA 9 et inluminare omnes quae sit dispensatio sacramenti absconditi a saeculis in Deo qui omnia creavit NIV 9 and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. VULA 10 ut innotescat principibus et potestatibus in caelestibus per ecclesiam multiformis sapientia Dei NIV 10 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, VULA 11 secundum praefinitionem saeculorum quam fecit in Christo Iesu Domino nostro NIV 11 according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. VULA 12 in quo habemus fiduciam et accessum in confidentia per fidem eius NIV 12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. VULA 13 propter quod peto ne deficiatis in tribulationibus meis pro vobis quae est gloria vestra NIV 13 I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory. VULA 14 huius rei gratia flecto genua mea ad Patrem Domini nostri Iesu Christi NIV 14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, VULA 15 ex quo omnis paternitas in caelis et in terra nominatur NIV 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. VULA 16 ut det vobis secundum divitias gloriae suae virtute corroborari per Spiritum eius in interiore homine NIV 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, VULA 17 habitare Christum per fidem in cordibus vestris in caritate radicati et fundati NIV 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, VULA 18 ut possitis conprehendere cum omnibus sanctis quae sit latitudo et longitudo et sublimitas et profundum NIV 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, VULA 19 scire etiam supereminentem scientiae caritatem Christi ut impleamini in omnem plenitudinem Dei NIV 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. VULA 20 ei autem qui potens est omnia facere superabundanter quam petimus aut intellegimus secundum virtutem quae operatur in nobis NIV 20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, VULA 21 ipsi gloria in ecclesia et in Christo Iesu in omnes generationes saeculi saeculorum amen NIV 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
