Job 10

YLT 1 My soul hath been weary of my life, I leave off my talking to myself, I speak in the bitterness of my soul. NIV 1 “I loathe my very life; therefore I will give free rein to my complaint and speak out in the bitterness of my soul. YLT 2 I say unto God, `Do not condemn me, Let me know why Thou dost strive [with] me. NIV 2 I say to God: Do not declare me guilty, but tell me what charges you have against me. YLT 3 Is it good for Thee that Thou dost oppress? That Thou despisest the labour of Thy hands, And on the counsel of the wicked hast shone? NIV 3 Does it please you to oppress me, to spurn the work of your hands, while you smile on the plans of the wicked? YLT 4 Eyes of flesh hast Thou? As man seeth -- seest Thou? NIV 4 Do you have eyes of flesh? Do you see as a mortal sees? YLT 5 As the days of man [are] Thy days? Thy years as the days of a man? NIV 5 Are your days like those of a mortal or your years like those of a strong man, YLT 6 That Thou inquirest for mine iniquity, And for my sin seekest? NIV 6 that you must search out my faults and probe after my sin— YLT 7 For Thou knowest that I am not wicked, And there is no deliverer from Thy hand. NIV 7 though you know that I am not guilty and that no one can rescue me from your hand? YLT 8 Thy hands have taken pains about me, And they make me together round about, And Thou swallowest me up! NIV 8 “Your hands shaped me and made me. Will you now turn and destroy me? YLT 9 Remember, I pray Thee, That as clay Thou hast made me, And unto dust Thou dost bring me back. NIV 9 Remember that you molded me like clay. Will you now turn me to dust again? YLT 10 Dost Thou not as milk pour me out? And as cheese curdle me? NIV 10 Did you not pour me out like milk and curdle me like cheese, YLT 11 Skin and flesh Thou dost put on me, And with bones and sinews dost fence me. NIV 11 clothe me with skin and flesh and knit me together with bones and sinews? YLT 12 Life and kindness Thou hast done with me. And Thy inspection hath preserved my spirit. NIV 12 You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence watched over my spirit. YLT 13 And these Thou hast laid up in Thy heart, I have known that this [is] with Thee. NIV 13 “But this is what you concealed in your heart, and I know that this was in your mind: YLT 14 If I sinned, then Thou hast observed me, And from mine iniquity dost not acquit me, NIV 14 If I sinned, you would be watching me and would not let my offense go unpunished. YLT 15 If I have done wickedly -- wo to me, And righteously -- I lift not up my head, Full of shame -- then see my affliction, NIV 15 If I am guilty—woe to me! Even if I am innocent, I cannot lift my head, for I am full of shame and drowned in my affliction. YLT 16 And it riseth -- as a lion Thou huntest me. And Thou turnest back -- Thou shewest Thyself wonderful in me. NIV 16 If I hold my head high, you stalk me like a lion and again display your awesome power against me. YLT 17 Thou renewest Thy witnesses against me, And dost multiply Thine anger with me, Changes and warfare [are] with me. NIV 17 You bring new witnesses against me and increase your anger toward me; your forces come against me wave upon wave. YLT 18 And why from the womb Hast Thou brought me forth? I expire, and the eye doth not see me. NIV 18 “Why then did you bring me out of the womb? I wish I had died before any eye saw me. YLT 19 As I had not been, I am, From the belly to the grave I am brought, NIV 19 If only I had never come into being, or had been carried straight from the womb to the grave! YLT 20 Are not my days few? Cease then, and put from me, And I brighten up a little, NIV 20 Are not my few days almost over? Turn away from me so I can have a moment’s joy YLT 21 Before I go, and return not, Unto a land of darkness and death-shade, NIV 21 before I go to the place of no return, to the land of gloom and utter darkness, YLT 22 A land of obscurity as thick darkness, Death-shade -- and no order, And the shining [is] as thick darkness.' NIV 22 to the land of deepest night, of utter darkness and disorder, where even the light is like darkness.”
