Joshua 13

RHE 1 Josue was old, and far advanced in years, and the Lord said to him: Thou art grown old, and advanced in age, and there is a very large country left, which is not yet divided by lot: NIV 1 When Joshua had grown old, the LORD said to him, “You are now very old, and there are still very large areas of land to be taken over. RHE 2 To wit, all Galilee, Philistia, and all Gessuri. NIV 2 “This is the land that remains: all the regions of the Philistines and Geshurites, RHE 3 From the troubled river, that watereth Egypt, unto the border of Accaron northward: the land of Chanaan, which is divided among the lords of the Philistines, the Gazites, the Azotians, the Ascalonites, the Gethites, and the Accronites. NIV 3 from the Shihor River on the east of Egypt to the territory of Ekron on the north, all of it counted as Canaanite though held by the five Philistine rulers in Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron; the territory of the Avvites RHE 4 And on the south side are the Hevites, all the land of Chanaan, and Maara of the Sidonians as far as Apheca, and the borders of the Amorrhite, NIV 4 on the south; all the land of the Canaanites, from Arah of the Sidonians as far as Aphek and the border of the Amorites; RHE 5 And his confines. NIV 6 “As for all the inhabitants of the mountain regions from Lebanon to Misrephoth Maim, that is, all the Sidonians, I myself will drive them out before the Israelites. Be sure to allocate this land to Israel for an inheritance, as I have instructed you, RHE 7 And now divide the land in possession to the nine tribes, and to the half tribe of Manasses, NIV 7 and divide it as an inheritance among the nine tribes and half of the tribe of Manasseh.” RHE 8 With whom Ruben and Gad have possessed the land, which Moses the servant of the Lord delivered to them beyond the river Jordan, on the east side. NIV 8 The other half of Manasseh, the Reubenites and the Gadites had received the inheritance that Moses had given them east of the Jordan, as he, the servant of the LORD, had assigned it to them. RHE 9 From Aroer, which is upon the bank of the torrent Arnon, and in the midst of the valley and all the plains of Medaba, as far as Dibon: NIV 9 It extended from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge, and from the town in the middle of the gorge, and included the whole plateau of Medeba as far as Dibon, RHE 10 And all the cities of Sehon, king of the Amorrhites, who reigned in Hesebon, unto the borders of the children of Ammon. NIV 10 and all the towns of Sihon king of the Amorites, who ruled in Heshbon, out to the border of the Ammonites. RHE 11 And Galaad, and the borders of Gessuri and Machati, and all mount Hermon, and all Basan as far as Salecha, NIV 11 It also included Gilead, the territory of the people of Geshur and Maakah, all of Mount Hermon and all Bashan as far as Salekah— RHE 12 All the kingdom of Og in Basan, who reigned in Astaroth and Edrai, he was of the remains of the Raphaims: and Moses overthrew and destroyed them. NIV 12 that is, the whole kingdom of Og in Bashan, who had reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei. (He was the last of the Rephaites.) Moses had defeated them and taken over their land. NIV 13 But the Israelites did not drive out the people of Geshur and Maakah, so they continue to live among the Israelites to this day. RHE 14 But to the tribe of Levi he gave no possession: but the sacrifices and victims of thee Lord God of Israel, are his inheritance, as he spoke to him. NIV 14 But to the tribe of Levi he gave no inheritance, since the food offerings presented to the LORD, the God of Israel, are their inheritance, as he promised them. RHE 15 And Moses gave a possession to the children of Ruben according to their kindreds. NIV 15 This is what Moses had given to the tribe of Reuben, according to its clans: RHE 16 And their border was from Aroer, which is on the bank of the torrent Arnon, and in the midst of the valley of the same torrent: all the plain, that leadeth to Medaba, NIV 16 The territory from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge, and from the town in the middle of the gorge, and the whole plateau past Medeba RHE 17 And Hesebon, and all their villages, which are in the plains. Dibon also, and Bamothbaal, and the town of Baalmaon, NIV 17 to Heshbon and all its towns on the plateau, including Dibon, Bamoth Baal, Beth Baal Meon, RHE 18 And Jassa, and Cidimoth, and Mephaath, NIV 18 Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath, RHE 19 And Cariathaim, and Sabama, and Sarathasar in the mountain of the valley. NIV 19 Kiriathaim, Sibmah, Zereth Shahar on the hill in the valley, RHE 20 Bethphogor and Asedoth, Phasga and Bethiesimoth, NIV 20 Beth Peor, the slopes of Pisgah, and Beth Jeshimoth— RHE 21 And all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdoms of Sehon king of the Amorrhites, that reigned in Hesebon, whom Moses slew with the princes of Madian: Hevi, and Recem, and Sur and Hur, and Rebe, dukes of Sehon inhabitants of the land. NIV 21 all the towns on the plateau and the entire realm of Sihon king of the Amorites, who ruled at Heshbon. Moses had defeated him and the Midianite chiefs, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba—princes allied with Sihon—who lived in that country. This is the possession of the Rubenites, by their kindreds, of cities and villages. NIV 23 The boundary of the Reubenites was the bank of the Jordan. These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the Reubenites, according to their clans. RHE 24 And Moses gave to the tribe of Gad and to his children by their kindreds a possession, of which this is the division. NIV 24 This is what Moses had given to the tribe of Gad, according to its clans: RHE 25 The border of Jaser, and all the cities of Galaad, and half the land of the children of Ammon: as far as Aroer which is over against Rabba: NIV 25 The territory of Jazer, all the towns of Gilead and half the Ammonite country as far as Aroer, near Rabbah; RHE 26 And from Hesebon unto Ramoth, Masphe and Betonim: and from Manaim unto the borders of Dabir. NIV 26 and from Heshbon to Ramath Mizpah and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the territory of Debir; RHE 27 And in the valley Betharan and Bethnemra, and Socoth, and Saphon the other part of the kingdom of Sehon king of Hesebon: the limit of this also is the Jordan, as far as the uttermost part of the sea of Cenereth beyond the Jordan on the east side, NIV 27 and in the valley, Beth Haram, Beth Nimrah, Sukkoth and Zaphon with the rest of the realm of Sihon king of Heshbon (the east side of the Jordan, the territory up to the end of the Sea of Galilee ). RHE 28 This is the possession of the children of Gad by their families, their cities, and villages. NIV 28 These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the Gadites, according to their clans. RHE 29 He gave also to the half tribe of Manasses and his children possession according to their kindreds, NIV 29 This is what Moses had given to the half-tribe of Manasseh, that is, to half the family of the descendants of Manasseh, according to its clans: RHE 30 The beginning whereof is this: from Manaim all Basan, and all the kingdoms of Og king of Basan, and all the villages of Jair, which are in Basan, threescore towns. NIV 30 The territory extending from Mahanaim and including all of Bashan, the entire realm of Og king of Bashan—all the settlements of Jair in Bashan, sixty towns, RHE 31 And half Galaad, and Astaroth, and Edrai, cities of the kingdom of Og in Basan: to the children of Machir, the son of Manasses, to one half of the children of Machir according to their kindreds.
