Joshua 19

NAS 1 Then the second lot fell to Simeon, to the tribe of the sons of Simeon according to their families, and their inheritance was in the midst of the inheritance of the sons of Judah. NIV 1 The second lot came out for the tribe of Simeon according to its clans. Their inheritance lay within the territory of Judah. NAS 2 So they had as their inheritance Beersheba or Sheba and Moladah, NIV 2 It included: Beersheba (or Sheba), Moladah, NAS 3 and Hazar-shual and Balah and Ezem, NIV 3 Hazar Shual, Balah, Ezem, NAS 4 and Eltolad and Bethul and Hormah, NIV 4 Eltolad, Bethul, Hormah, NAS 5 and Ziklag and Beth-marcaboth and Hazar-susah, NIV 5 Ziklag, Beth Markaboth, Hazar Susah, NAS 6 and Beth-lebaoth and Sharuhen; thirteen cities with their villages; NIV 6 Beth Lebaoth and Sharuhen—thirteen towns and their villages; NAS 7 Ain, Rimmon and Ether and Ashan; four cities with their villages; NIV 7 Ain, Rimmon, Ether and Ashan—four towns and their villages— NAS 8 and all the villages which were around these cities as far as Baalath-beer, Ramah of the Negev. This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Simeon according to their families. NIV 8 and all the villages around these towns as far as Baalath Beer (Ramah in the Negev). This was the inheritance of the tribe of the Simeonites, according to its clans. NAS 9 The inheritance of the sons of Simeon was taken from the portion of the sons of Judah, for the share of the sons of Judah was too large for them; so the sons of Simeon received an inheritance in the midst of Judah's inheritance. NIV 9 The inheritance of the Simeonites was taken from the share of Judah, because Judah’s portion was more than they needed. So the Simeonites received their inheritance within the territory of Judah. NAS 10 Now the third lot came up for the sons of Zebulun according to their families. And the territory of their inheritance was as far as Sarid. NIV 10 The third lot came up for Zebulun according to its clans: The boundary of their inheritance went as far as Sarid. NAS 11 Then their border went up to the west and to Maralah, it then touched Dabbesheth and reached to the brook that is before Jokneam. NIV 11 Going west it ran to Maralah, touched Dabbesheth, and extended to the ravine near Jokneam. NAS 12 Then it turned from Sarid to the east toward the sunrise as far as the border of Chisloth-tabor, and it proceeded to Daberath and up to Japhia. NIV 12 It turned east from Sarid toward the sunrise to the territory of Kisloth Tabor and went on to Daberath and up to Japhia. NAS 13 From there it continued eastward toward the sunrise to Gath-hepher, to Eth-kazin, and it proceeded to Rimmon which stretches to Neah. NIV 13 Then it continued eastward to Gath Hepher and Eth Kazin; it came out at Rimmon and turned toward Neah. NAS 14 The border circled around it on the north to Hannathon, and it ended at the valley of Iphtahel. NIV 14 There the boundary went around on the north to Hannathon and ended at the Valley of Iphtah El. NAS 15 Included also were Kattah and Nahalal and Shimron and Idalah and Bethlehem; twelve cities with their villages. NIV 15 Included were Kattath, Nahalal, Shimron, Idalah and Bethlehem. There were twelve towns and their villages. NAS 16 This was the inheritance of the sons of Zebulun according to their families, these cities with their villages. NIV 16 These towns and their villages were the inheritance of Zebulun, according to its clans. NAS 17 The fourth lot fell to Issachar, to the sons of Issachar according to their families. NIV 17 The fourth lot came out for Issachar according to its clans. NAS 18 Their territory was to Jezreel and included Chesulloth and Shunem, NIV 18 Their territory included: Jezreel, Kesulloth, Shunem, NAS 19 and Hapharaim and Shion and Anaharath, NIV 19 Hapharaim, Shion, Anaharath, NAS 20 and Rabbith and Kishion and Ebez, NIV 20 Rabbith, Kishion, Ebez, NAS 21 and Remeth and En-gannim and En-haddah and Beth-pazzez. NIV 21 Remeth, En Gannim, En Haddah and Beth Pazzez. NAS 22 The border reached to Tabor and Shahazumah and Beth-shemesh, and their border ended at the Jordan; sixteen cities with their villages. NAS 23 This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Issachar according to their families, the cities with their villages. NIV 23 These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Issachar, according to its clans. NAS 24 Now the fifth lot fell to the tribe of the sons of Asher according to their families. NIV 24 The fifth lot came out for the tribe of Asher according to its clans. NAS 25 Their territory was Helkath and Hali and Beten and Achshaph, NIV 25 Their territory included: Helkath, Hali, Beten, Akshaph, NAS 26 and Allammelech and Amad and Mishal; and it reached to Carmel on the west and to Shihor-libnath. NIV 26 Allammelek, Amad and Mishal. On the west the boundary touched Carmel and Shihor Libnath. NAS 27 It turned toward the east to Beth-dagon and reached to Zebulun, and to the valley of Iphtahel northward to Beth-emek and Neiel; then it proceeded on north to Cabul, NIV 27 It then turned east toward Beth Dagon, touched Zebulun and the Valley of Iphtah El, and went north to Beth Emek and Neiel, passing Kabul on the left. NAS 28 and Ebron and Rehob and Hammon and Kanah, as far as Great Sidon. NIV 28 It went to Abdon, Rehob, Hammon and Kanah, as far as Greater Sidon. NAS 29 The border turned to Ramah and to the fortified city of Tyre; then the border turned to Hosah, and it ended at the sea by the region of Achzib. NIV 29 The boundary then turned back toward Ramah and went to the fortified city of Tyre, turned toward Hosah and came out at the Mediterranean Sea in the region of Akzib, NAS 30 Included also were Ummah, and Aphek and Rehob; twenty-two cities with their villages. NAS 31 This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Asher according to their families, these cities with their villages. NIV 31 These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Asher, according to its clans. NAS 32 The sixth lot fell to the sons of Naphtali; to the sons of Naphtali according to their families. NIV 32 The sixth lot came out for Naphtali according to its clans: NAS 33 Their border was from Heleph, from the oak in Zaanannim and Adami-nekeb and Jabneel, as far as Lakkum, and it ended at the Jordan. NIV 33 Their boundary went from Heleph and the large tree in Zaanannim, passing Adami Nekeb and Jabneel to Lakkum and ending at the Jordan. NAS 34 Then the border turned westward to Aznoth-tabor and proceeded from there to Hukkok; and it reached to Zebulun on the south and touched Asher on the west, and to Judah at the Jordan toward the east . NIV 34 The boundary ran west through Aznoth Tabor and came out at Hukkok. It touched Zebulun on the south, Asher on the west and the Jordan on the east. NAS 35 The fortified cities were Ziddim, Zer and Hammath, Rakkath and Chinnereth, NIV 35 The fortified towns were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Kinnereth, NAS 36 and Adamah and Ramah and Hazor, NIV 36 Adamah, Ramah, Hazor, NAS 37 and Kedesh and Edrei and En-hazor, NIV 37 Kedesh, Edrei, En Hazor, NAS 38 and Yiron and Migdal-el, Horem and Beth-anath and Beth-shemesh; nineteen cities with their villages. NIV 38 Iron, Migdal El, Horem, Beth Anath and Beth Shemesh. There were nineteen towns and their villages. NAS 39 This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali according to their families, the cities with their villages. NIV 39 These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Naphtali, according to its clans. NAS 40 The seventh lot fell to the tribe of the sons of Dan according to their families. NIV 40 The seventh lot came out for the tribe of Dan according to its clans. NAS 41 The territory of their inheritance was Zorah and Eshtaol and Ir-shemesh, NIV 41 The territory of their inheritance included: Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir Shemesh, NAS 42 and Shaalabbin and Aijalon and Ithlah, NIV 42 Shaalabbin, Aijalon, Ithlah, NAS 43 and Elon and Timnah and Ekron, NIV 43 Elon, Timnah, Ekron, NAS 44 and Eltekeh and Gibbethon and Baalath, NIV 44 Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Baalath, NAS 45 and Jehud and Bene-berak and Gath-rimmon, NIV 45 Jehud, Bene Berak, Gath Rimmon, NAS 46 and Me-jarkon and Rakkon, with the territory over against Joppa. NIV 46 Me Jarkon and Rakkon, with the area facing Joppa. NAS 47 The territory of the sons of Dan proceeded beyond them; for the sons of Dan went up and fought with Leshem and captured it. Then they struck it with the edge of the sword and possessed it and settled in it; and they called Leshem Dan after the name of Dan their father. NIV 47 (When the territory of the Danites was lost to them, they went up and attacked Leshem, took it, put it to the sword and occupied it. They settled in Leshem and named it Dan after their ancestor.) NAS 48 This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Dan according to their families, these cities with their villages. NIV 48 These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Dan, according to its clans. NAS 49 When they finished apportioning the land for inheritance by its borders, the sons of Israel gave an inheritance in their midst to Joshua the son of Nun. NIV 49 When they had finished dividing the land into its allotted portions, the Israelites gave Joshua son of Nun an inheritance among them, NAS 50 In accordance with the command of the LORD they gave him the city for which he asked, Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. So he built the city and settled in it. NIV 50 as the LORD had commanded. They gave him the town he asked for—Timnath Serah in the hill country of Ephraim. And he built up the town and settled there. NAS 51 These are the inheritances which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the households of the tribes of the sons of Israel distributed by lot in Shiloh before the LORD at the doorway of the tent of meeting. So they finished dividing the land. NIV 51 These are the territories that Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun and the heads of the tribal clans of Israel assigned by lot at Shiloh in the presence of the LORD at the entrance to the tent of meeting. And so they finished dividing the land.
