GW 1 The LORD called Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting. He said, NIV 1 The LORD called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting. He said, GW 2 "Tell the Israelites: If any of you bring a sacrifice to the LORD, you must offer an animal from your cattle, sheep, or goats. NIV 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When anyone among you brings an offering to the LORD, bring as your offering an animal from either the herd or the flock. GW 3 "If you bring a burnt offering from your cattle, you must offer a male that has no defects. Offer it at the entrance to the tent of meeting so that the LORD will accept you. NIV 3 “ ‘If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, you are to offer a male without defect. You must present it at the entrance to the tent of meeting so that it will be acceptable to the LORD. GW 4 Place your hand on the animal's head. The burnt offering will be accepted to make peace with the LORD. NIV 4 You are to lay your hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on your behalf to make atonement for you. GW 5 Then slaughter the bull in the LORD's presence. Aaron's sons, the priests, will offer the blood. They will throw it against all sides of the altar that is at the entrance to the tent of meeting. NIV 5 You are to slaughter the young bull before the LORD, and then Aaron’s sons the priests shall bring the blood and splash it against the sides of the altar at the entrance to the tent of meeting. GW 6 Skin the burnt offering, and cut it into pieces. NIV 6 You are to skin the burnt offering and cut it into pieces. GW 7 Then the sons of the priest Aaron will start a fire on the altar and lay the wood on the fire. NIV 7 The sons of Aaron the priest are to put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire. GW 8 Aaron's sons, the priests, will also lay the pieces, the head, and the fat on top of the wood burning on the altar. NIV 8 Then Aaron’s sons the priests shall arrange the pieces, including the head and the fat, on the wood that is burning on the altar. GW 9 Wash the internal organs and legs. Then the priest will burn all of it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering by fire, a soothing aroma to the LORD. NIV 9 You are to wash the internal organs and the legs with water, and the priest is to burn all of it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the LORD. GW 10 "If your offering is a sheep or goat, you must bring a male that has no defects. NIV 10 “ ‘If the offering is a burnt offering from the flock, from either the sheep or the goats, you are to offer a male without defect. GW 11 Slaughter it in the LORD's presence on the north side of the altar. Aaron's sons, the priests, will throw the blood against the altar on all sides. NIV 11 You are to slaughter it at the north side of the altar before the LORD, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall splash its blood against the sides of the altar. GW 12 Then cut it into pieces. The priest will lay the head and the fat on the wood burning on the altar. NIV 12 You are to cut it into pieces, and the priest shall arrange them, including the head and the fat, on the wood that is burning on the altar. GW 13 Wash the internal organs and legs. Then the priest will burn all of it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering by fire, a soothing aroma to the LORD. NIV 13 You are to wash the internal organs and the legs with water, and the priest is to bring all of them and burn them on the altar. It is a burnt offering, a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the LORD. GW 14 "If your offering to the LORD is a bird, you must sacrifice a mourning dove or pigeon. NIV 14 “ ‘If the offering to the LORD is a burnt offering of birds, you are to offer a dove or a young pigeon. GW 15 The priest must bring it to the altar. He will break its neck and burn the bird on the altar. First, he will drain the blood against the side of the altar. NIV 15 The priest shall bring it to the altar, wring off the head and burn it on the altar; its blood shall be drained out on the side of the altar. GW 16 Remove the gizzard with its filth and throw it on the east side of the altar on the place for the ashes. NIV 16 He is to remove the crop and the feathers and throw them down east of the altar where the ashes are. GW 17 Then pull on the bird's wings to tear the bird open, but don't pull the wings off. Then the priest will lay the bird on the wood burning on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering by fire, a soothing aroma to the LORD." NIV 17 He shall tear it open by the wings, not dividing it completely, and then the priest shall burn it on the wood that is burning on the altar. It is a burnt offering, a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the LORD.
