Psalm 33

CEB 1 All you who are righteous, shout joyfully to the LORD! It's right for those who do right to praise God. NRS 1 Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous. Praise befits the upright. CEB 2 Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre! Sing praises to him with the ten-stringed harp! NRS 2 Praise the Lord with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings. CEB 3 Sing to him a new song! Play your best with joyful shouts! NRS 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts. CEB 4 Because the LORD's word is right, his every act is done in good faith. NRS 4 For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness. CEB 5 He loves righteousness and justice; the LORD's faithful love fills the whole earth. NRS 5 He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord. CEB 6 The skies were made by the LORD's word, all their starry multitude by the breath of his mouth. NRS 6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all their host by the breath of his mouth. CEB 7 He gathered the ocean waters into a heap; he put the deep seas into storerooms. NRS 7 He gathered the waters of the sea as in a bottle; he put the deeps in storehouses. CEB 8 All the earth honors the LORD; all the earth's inhabitants stand in awe of him. NRS 8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. CEB 9 Because when he spoke, it happened! When he commanded, there it was! NRS 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. CEB 10 The LORD overrules what the nations plan; he frustrates what the peoples intend to do. NRS 10 The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples. CEB 11 But the LORD's plan stands forever; what he intends to do lasts from one generation to the next. NRS 11 The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. CEB 12 The nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom God has chosen as his possession, is truly happy! NRS 12 Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage. CEB 13 The LORD looks down from heaven; he sees every human being. NRS 13 The Lord looks down from heaven; he sees all humankind. CEB 14 From his dwelling place God observes all who live on earth. NRS 14 From where he sits enthroned he watches all the inhabitants of the earth— CEB 15 God is the one who made all their hearts, the one who knows everything they do. NRS 15 he who fashions the hearts of them all, and observes all their deeds. CEB 16 Kings aren't saved by the strength of their armies; warriors aren't rescued by how much power they have. NRS 16 A king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. CEB 17 A warhorse is a bad bet for victory; it can't save despite its great strength. NRS 17 The war horse is a vain hope for victory, and by its great might it cannot save. CEB 18 But look here: the LORD's eyes watch all who honor him, all who wait for his faithful love, NRS 18 Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, CEB 19 to deliver their lives from death and keep them alive during a famine. NRS 19 to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. CEB 20 We put our hope in the LORD. He is our help and our shield. NRS 20 Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and shield. CEB 21 Our heart rejoices in God because we trust his holy name. NRS 21 Our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. CEB 22 LORD, let your faithful love surround us because we wait for you. NRS 22 Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.
