Psalm 66

NRSA 1 Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth; NIV 1 Shout for joy to God, all the earth! NRSA 2 sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise. NIV 2 Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious. NRSA 3 Say to God, "How awesome are your deeds! Because of your great power, your enemies cringe before you. NIV 3 Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you. NRSA 4 All the earth worships you; they sing praises to you, sing praises to your name." (Selah) NIV 4 All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing the praises of your name.” NRSA 5 Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds among mortals. NIV 5 Come and see what God has done, his awesome deeds for mankind! NRSA 6 He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the river on foot. There we rejoiced in him, NIV 6 He turned the sea into dry land, they passed through the waters on foot— come, let us rejoice in him. NRSA 7 who rules by his might forever, whose eyes keep watch on the nations— let the rebellious not exalt themselves. (Selah) NIV 7 He rules forever by his power, his eyes watch the nations— let not the rebellious rise up against him. NRSA 8 Bless our God, O peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard, NIV 8 Praise our God, all peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard; NRSA 9 who has kept us among the living, and has not let our feet slip. NIV 9 he has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping. NRSA 10 For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried us as silver is tried. NIV 10 For you, God, tested us; you refined us like silver. NRSA 11 You brought us into the net; you laid burdens on our backs; NIV 11 You brought us into prison and laid burdens on our backs. NRSA 12 you let people ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet you have brought us out to a spacious place. NIV 12 You let people ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance. NRSA 13 I will come into your house with burnt offerings; I will pay you my vows, NIV 13 I will come to your temple with burnt offerings and fulfill my vows to you— NRSA 14 those that my lips uttered and my mouth promised when I was in trouble. NIV 14 vows my lips promised and my mouth spoke when I was in trouble. NRSA 15 I will offer to you burnt offerings of fatlings, with the smoke of the sacrifice of rams; I will make an offering of bulls and goats. (Selah) NIV 15 I will sacrifice fat animals to you and an offering of rams; I will offer bulls and goats. NRSA 16 Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for me. NIV 16 Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me. NRSA 17 I cried aloud to him, and he was extolled with my tongue. NIV 17 I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. NRSA 18 If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. NIV 18 If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; NRSA 19 But truly God has listened; he has given heed to the words of my prayer. NIV 19 but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. NRSA 20 Blessed be God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me. NIV 20 Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!
