Psalm 66

RSVA 1 To the choirmaster. A Song. A Psalm. Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth; NIV 1 Shout for joy to God, all the earth! RSVA 2 sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! NIV 2 Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious. RSVA 3 Say to God, "How terrible are thy deeds! So great is thy power that thy enemies cringe before thee. NIV 3 Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you. RSVA 4 All the earth worships thee; they sing praises to thee, sing praises to thy name." [Selah] NIV 4 All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing the praises of your name.” RSVA 5 Come and see what God has done: he is terrible in his deeds among men. NIV 5 Come and see what God has done, his awesome deeds for mankind! RSVA 6 He turned the sea into dry land; men passed through the river on foot. There did we rejoice in him, NIV 6 He turned the sea into dry land, they passed through the waters on foot— come, let us rejoice in him. RSVA 7 who rules by his might for ever, whose eyes keep watch on the nations--let not the rebellious exalt themselves. [Selah] NIV 7 He rules forever by his power, his eyes watch the nations— let not the rebellious rise up against him. RSVA 8 Bless our God, O peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard, NIV 8 Praise our God, all peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard; RSVA 9 who has kept us among the living, and has not let our feet slip. NIV 9 he has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping. RSVA 10 For thou, O God, hast tested us; thou hast tried us as silver is tried. NIV 10 For you, God, tested us; you refined us like silver. RSVA 11 Thou didst bring us into the net; thou didst lay affliction on our loins; NIV 11 You brought us into prison and laid burdens on our backs. RSVA 12 thou didst let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet thou hast brought us forth to a spacious place. NIV 12 You let people ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance. RSVA 13 I will come into thy house with burnt offerings; I will pay thee my vows, NIV 13 I will come to your temple with burnt offerings and fulfill my vows to you— RSVA 14 that which my lips uttered and my mouth promised when I was in trouble. NIV 14 vows my lips promised and my mouth spoke when I was in trouble. RSVA 15 I will offer to thee burnt offerings of fatlings, with the smoke of the sacrifice of rams; I will make an offering of bulls and goats. [Selah] NIV 15 I will sacrifice fat animals to you and an offering of rams; I will offer bulls and goats. RSVA 16 Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for me. NIV 16 Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me. RSVA 17 I cried aloud to him, and he was extolled with my tongue. NIV 17 I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. RSVA 18 If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. NIV 18 If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; RSVA 19 But truly God has listened; he has given heed to the voice of my prayer. NIV 19 but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. RSVA 20 Blessed be God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me! NIV 20 Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!
