Psalm 82

RHE 1 (81-1) <A psalm for Asaph.> God hath stood in the congregation of gods: and being in the midst of them he judgeth gods. NIV 1 God presides in the great assembly; he renders judgment among the “gods”: RHE 2 (81-2) How long will you judge unjustly: and accept the persons of the wicked? NIV 2 “How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked? RHE 3 (81-3) Judge for the needy and fatherless: do justice to the humble and the poor. NIV 3 Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. RHE 4 (81-4) Rescue the poor; and deliver the needy out of the hand of the sinner. NIV 4 Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. RHE 5 (81-5) They have not known nor understood: they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth shall be moved. NIV 5 “The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. RHE 6 (81-6) I have said: You are gods and all of you the sons of the most High. NIV 6 “I said, ‘You are “gods”; you are all sons of the Most High.’ RHE 7 (81-7) But you like men shall die: and shall fall like one of the princes. NIV 7 But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler.” RHE 8 (81-8) Arise, O God, judge thou the earth: for thou shalt inherit among all the nations. NIV 8 Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are your inheritance.
